The answer to this is free social media protocols like ActivityPub that make up the fediverse honestly. Ie mastodon, PeerTube, Friendica, Pixelfed, pleroma, or whatever your favorite way to access it is. The distributed moderation system they’re describing as a demand is already how fedi works. It already exists it just requires a rethinking of how we conceive of “platforms”. Conceding “the app” as the essential platform is already walking back from a free ecosystem of posting.
