please tell me i wasn't the only one sobbing through this finale?! | echo commentary: 1x05!

mother/daughter storylines ALWAYS get me 😭 and the way this episode built up the tension?! the stress was REAL 😭

but i truly loved this show; i loved the origin of her name, the nuance of the family dynamics, her relationship with the loved ones in her life - it was so good! (and biscuits, did i mention i loved biscuits? πŸ˜‚) for real though, i'm so glad this exists in the mcu πŸ–€

up next: we're continuing with the wilson fisk vibes & watching daredevil season 2, but while i'm working on filming/editing that entire season, i think i'm going to post reactions to the older x-men movies, too! i think it's about time i finally watch them πŸ˜‚ so get ready for some matt murdock & charles xavier coming up in the future!!! (i'm VERY excited lol)

in the meantime - i hope you guys are doing well!! thanks for watching echo with me πŸ˜ŠπŸ–€ i'll see ya soon for the next one!!

In the end, Maya did not use Fisk's own language--violence and power--to defeat him, but her family's langauge--compassion and healing--and they filmed it like it was the most brutal beatdown. He shrugged off a literal explosion in Hawkeye, but Echo effortly implodes him because she knows his weak spot is his heart. She grows stronger the more she embraces the love of a family who actually cares about her and rejects the toxic family that Fisk creates out of an inability to form actual bonds. And of course, she heals herself, finally tears down the walls, and lets her family in. If you haven't seen Cloak and Dagger, it has similar vibes. The theme of family dynamics is omnipresent. It delves deeply into New Orleans culture and makes it part of the story. But bring your tissues, because there are some legitimate sad scenes that even the most narratively fluent may not seem coming. Good way to test your superpower.

Don't mind me, getting around to watching this 24 days after it released. YAY more Daredevil content!
