A Note on Physical Reward Shipping

Hey everyone, Kole here with a quick update on physical reward shipping. Don't worry, nothing is going away, I just want to clarify things.

We've been doing the Patreon for over a year now, and I feel like I have a better grasp on how things work. When cards are charged at the end of a month, there's a number of them that are "declined" for some reason or another. When it comes time to ship out physical rewards, I skip people whose payments don't come in for two reasons: Sending a physical reward to someone whose payment doesn't come through is unfair to those whose payment DOES come through, and each item we ship is nontrivially costly.

I think this is a good policy, and I want to stick to it. However, I don't want to punish someone whose credit card lapsed and they forgot to update their Patreon account. Stuff like that happens. But I have sneaking suspicion that there are people who have updated their accounts after I shipped out the postcards or did the t-shirt drawing, and we got their money and they didn't get a reward. I feel bad about that.

To make things easier for you if this kind of payment problem comes up, I'm going to delay the shipping of a month's postcards and t-shirts by a month. Anyone whose card is successfully charged for a month will receive their rewards the month after the following month. Example: If your credit card was successfully charged at the end of May, you should receive your postcard sometime in  July if you are in the $10+ tiers.

For existing backers, this still works out to receiving something once a month. For new backers, there will be a slight delay before you start receiving your rewards.
