I've played all but 999. Ghost Trick is my favorite out of the ones I played. I might pick up 999 to play before the episode comes out.

Hotel Dusk is really good and I highly recommend it even if it doesn't get picked.

That's fair enough. To my mind, the accuracy of using that term is outweighed by the pain in the ass of learning all new nomenclature. It's like how on the itunes app store zelda style games are called adventures. The actual categorization doesn't need to be precise; people just need to know what you mean. And it's ok if they need a little context to do so. As genre lines blur, these distinctions are going to be come more arbitrary and people will require even more context. -GB

These all look great! Might finally be the excuse I need to pull the trigger on a 3DS...

oh heck yeahhhh Minor boring semantic point that I'm not sure how to bring up without sounding like an ass, but here goes: while I get why we tend to refer to these kinds of games as visual novels in the west, they're considered adventure games in Japan -- they never really got access to the kinds of games we predominantly think of as "adventure games" (Sierra/Lucasarts stuff in particular) so the genre evolved along an alternate timeline, as evidenced by games like Snatcher which are considered 100% adventure games in Japan but come across as menu-driven stacks of hyper-cards to us. It's a tough distinction to make, but since visual novels are games that are entirely text-based outside of a few decision branches (see Planetarian on steam for a good example of this), maybe it's time we start referring to Phoenix Wright etc. as Japanese Adventure Games the same way we use the term JRPGs? Just some food for thought, looking forward to seeing what gets picked :>>>

Looking forward to it!

Man! Such great options. I've been pining over ordering a copy of 999 and starting it myself, so if that's what wins the poll I'll certainly be playing along!
