Emergency Call: Extrasode Responses

Hi there! Sorry to bother you with such a thing at the last minute, but we're in a bit of a bind. The Super Princess Peach episode will be fun to record, but we don't have enough responses to make a proper extrasode out of it. So we want to extend an opportunity:

If you have any general questions about WOFF!, discussion prompts, or comments about prior (or possible future) games, please share them as a comment on this post.

The deadline for responses will be 2:00 P.M. Eastern Time. That's 11:00 A.M. Pacific. I will probably save any additional responses we don't get to for later occurances like this.

If this sounds familiar, like it's WOFFTRAX/DuckTrax, then that makes sense. However, we're going to open this up to all patrons, not just those of certain tiers.

Don't worry, this month will still have a DuckTrax. Look for that response call later this weekend or on Monday. If you have something you want to save until then, please save it for then.

Are there any games you have covered on the show that your opinions have changed over time?

Dakota Biggs

What are the earliest video games you remember playing? What are some experiences you remember around playing them? Are any of them games you still like today?

Andrew (andyk250) Koch

Hey guys, thanks to WOFF I've been spending my time going back and playing old games you've covered, This show has helped me experience greats like Earthbound, Neverwinter Nights 2, and Suikoden 2. Now with the newly released Planescape Torment : Enhanced Edition, I'm getting ready to start one of the best games on the show. What is your guys opinion on this remake and are you going to run through the game again anytime soon?

Christian Boswell

What is your favorite old cartoon, and what old cartoon has your favorite theme song. Anything else to do with old cartoons you think might be interesting.

Steven

Comment two - Kole, I just want to thank you for your attitude and general tone. You bring a much needed sense of positivity to my days. I wish I could be more articulate, but will leave it that I'm happy to hear much of my own philosophies and social justice concerns stated alongside my favorite listening material. I realize these two comments have been pretty sappy, but I just wanted to express my thanks whether you read them on the air or not. Keep up the amazing work!

Collin Brothers

Now a couple comments - Gary, I wanted to thank you for your openness over the years discussing your divorce. I am in the process of divorcing my wife now. We were together for around 14 years, since early college. We had simply grown apart, and the split has been as amicable as possible. We've been able to remain friends and communicate semi-regularly. Getting out of the situation of a dying marriage, while one of the more awful things I've ever done, has also changed my life for the better. While going through this process your words have truly made me feel like less of a failure; you've helped me see I'm not alone with what I'm going through.

When you're feeling blue, what games do you play to lift your spirits?

Michael Prehn

First the question - What other comics properties would like to see turned into Tell Tale adventure games? Although they'd never get made my choices would be set in the worlds of: the Filth, Providence, and the Irredeemable series. I'm not quite sure how the choices would work out, so I'll leave that to you.

Collin Brothers

(also as a more serious thing: Have you ever played Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers? -not to be confused with the GC Crystal Chronicles, they are very much different games- If so, why is it one of the best games ever?)

Davide Fiandra

Top 10 Star Wars clothing, gadgets and/or accessories?

Unfortunately I hadn't discovered the podcast by the time the FF7 episodes came out so I wasn't able to share my most embarrassing gaming story at the time. So I'll use this opportunity to share. FF7 was the first RPG I ever played. The games I tended to play were based on what my cousin was playing and he wasn't an RPG guy but he got it anyway. I was greatly enjoying it until I got to the caves in Cosmo Canyon. Because I hadn't played this genre I didn't think of things like grinding. I had just kept moving forward as fast as I could so I was severely under leveled and by the time I got to the boss I was almost completely depleted of health, magic, and items. It killed me over and over and I got frustrated enough to stop for a while. By then my cousin was bored of it and decided to trade it in. A month or two later I find out that the boss that halted my progress could be killed by giving it a single phoenix down. Figuring out enemy types and exploiting their weaknesses was another of my blind spots from not playing RPGs. By this time I had already been spoiled on a lot of the plot including Aerith's death and every time I reach this point in the game I have to laugh at myself that its easiest boss took me down.

Brian Castiano

What is one game you've played that you would HATE to do for WOFF and why?

Michael A Cunningham

Who is your favorite Little Rascal? Any version is fine.

Samuel Bair

During your long run of episodes you have covered a lot of different genres of games, from easy-to-digest platformers to long JRPGs. What genre do you enjoy most, and which do you think supports the best game?

Smith Young

Have you considered doing the Shining Force series?

Joey Yow

Of all the games you've done for woff which one do you wish you could "fix" to make a better game than what we got and how would you have done it.

David

Care of the wife: "Have you considered anything like Freespace or another space title in that vein for the show? I wonder how your perspective would take to that sort of thing."

Sibyl Arnett

Since you guys are covering more modern games now on WOFF, what are some titles you e got in mind for modern-centric episodes in the future? If I could put in my 2 cents I'd say Shadow of Mordor and specifically the nemesis system is one of the most interesting examples of emergent gameplay I've seen in years. Keep up the good work! -Kyle Cerk

Kyle C.

Also did either of you play the game in the past? I remember it fondly, or at least nostalgically, playing through it as one of the games I got on the original PlayStation. It's design would be perfect for VR today so there's still a chance for Sony to reboot it on PlayStation VR. =)

Kevin Korpi

Question: Would you ever consider doing Jumping Flash for an episode? It's a lesser known early 3D platformer in the PlayStation 1 era, and came out just before Mario 64 if I recall correctly. Created an impressive and fun 3D World which was a big shift from 2D games of the 16 bit era.

Kevin Korpi

Do you guys ever feel like your opinions on games you have talked about for woff have changed after recording the podcast? Like looking back on an episode where you were harsh on a game and you look more fondly on it, or vice versa? In the same vein, have you thought about doing a revisiting episode where you go back and talk about previous episodes and your opinions on those games?
