Adaptation Decay 14: Clue

We're playing fast and loose with the mission of the show in order to talk about the most unlikely thing: a board game adaptation that is also a very good movie. Tim Curry headlines an ensemble cast that tries to solve murder after murder in a nonstop horny farce. This movie should be remembered for a lot more than its "multiple endings" gimmick.

Catching up on the backlog of content, and I’m pleased as punch by the coverage of this one. When Charity (then girlfriend, now spouse) and I first began dating, we connected a lot through a dialogue of film. We could practically carry on a conversation with movie quotes. When we started living together, we often would have a few favorite movies in the DVD player almost perpetually, especially the ones that restarted on their own from the menu screen. They would be polished by this repeat viewing to the equivalent of white noise. The way some people listen to rain or Gregorian chimes, Charity and I would listen to Blazing Saddles, Spiderman, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Ghostbusters, and probably more than all of the others combined, Clue. It holds a special place in our collective hearts, and when I had Charity listen to this episode, I think it was the moment she came around. Much appreciation, it is definitely a movie out of time, and is why we absolutely loved it.

I'm trying to figure out how the fuck we watched this in class in the 5th grade.

One of my all time favorite weird, light-hearted comedies that's also somewhat dark. The cast really makes it.
