Sekiro is different. Sekiro is frustrating. Sekiro is here! Listen in for our nascent opinions on the game, based on the first few hours.

I think it would be helpful to tag the name of the games on your posts. It would make it simpler to find the series.

Part of the season, I think, is exploring the space between having that click and the game *still* being tuned too hard. I definitely have had the click, I also think I don't want to spend 3-6 hours on any parts of a game anymore, really. Having the ripcord to pull to get out of that is sorely missed.

It’s got one of those “click” moments just like the soulsborne series did with difficulty. You’ll hit it for sure. One thing that helped me a lot was if you’re having a hard time on a boss just go into it only blocking and figuring out their moves and maybe hitting once in awhile when there’s a clear opening. It will help figure out their move set significantly. This is a vaati tip btw not a me tip.

Really looking forward to this season. I started out extremely warm on this game (Souls-y shinobi action game set in feudal Japan is a 100% auto-love for me), and the excitement has only waned on a handful of the "mini-boss" encounters. Adding extra enemies to those encounters is just plain bad design imo, which is further proven by how awesomely streamlined the main boss encounters are. More so than any previous From game, I find myself really looking forward to the next big boss—both because of the major story progression each one brings and how they sort of turn Sekiro into a totally different game for however many hours it takes me to finish them. That said, trying to stealth-kill an entire area is still great. Overall, this is probably the quickest I've ever fallen for a From game, despite it's flaws.

Not sure where you're at, but I came around on it again, then back to my starting position. It's a game with dizzying highs that, in general, I really like and almost love, but I have found the take that it magically sort of flips to be false for me, and I do "get it" now, I think. -GB

The game finally opened up to me yesterday, when it clicked with me that you can approach bosses with evasion and chip damage against HP until posture break, or aggression and deflection if your reflexes are really good. Also: I just retreat and rest after using resurrection, which apparently doesn’t count as a death (those who have played know the importance of that). Then it’s basically an easier version of dark souls since you never actually lose skill progress or money. I’ve come full circle and love the game now :)

Omg, I would die.

Just saw your first message. The slack is definitely our community hub.

Duckfeed.tv

The Slack is basically a message board/chat thing, with different channels for different subjects. Check it out!

Hey, thanks William. I got a Slack invite when I joined but thought it was a chat room. Does it have a message board component?

pxlcrow

Most of the chat happens on the slack. There should be a link somewhere here.

William

I guess all the *real* DuckFeed community chat happens on FaceBook, is that right? I don’t and won’t use FaceBook. Is there another place people are congregating?

I was 17 hours in and my game crashed and corrupted my save, Seems to be happening to a bunch of people. So back up your saves if playing on pc! I'm loving it enough to not be frustrated in losing progress though I also really relate to most of Gary's frustations.

I’m a few hours in and I personally like the semi-realistic beginning. The weird area you discussed made me very excited. I have died a lot though.

You guys are literally the good cop/bad cop of my personal first impressions and I love it.
