How to access your premium audio shows.

Hi! We're blown away by the new support we're getting after our Patreon restructure. We've gotten a lot of questions about how people will access their premium audio episodes (early release, premium shows, full episodes of WOFF!, etc). I've created a brief video explaining how to do this. I'll also write out a tutorial below.

The short answer is: Everything you're backing our Patreon for can be accessed through your private Patreon audio RSS feed URL. All you need to do is plop this into your podcast listening app or RSS feed reading service of choice, and everything that's coming to you will come to you automatically.

INSTRUCTIONS ON GETTING THIS FEED:

This feed is unique to you as a backer, and it will automatically subscribe you to every piece of content you're eligible to receive.

Here are some answers to common questions we get about your favorite shows or rewards.

Zuh?: Everything you're entitled to will be delivered into one omni-feed.

Early Release: All early episodes will drop into this private feed. These will be mixed in with any other premium content that you get. The old early release feeds will be discontinued. Every once in a while we'll clean out the old Early Release episodes to keep the feed from getting too cluttered.

Exquisite Suffering: The most recent episode of Exquisite Suffering will be available for $5+ backers. All others will be available as part of the firehose for $10 backers.

Bonfireside Chat Rekindled: New episodes of Bonfireside Chat will go into the private RSS feed. They will not be available on the old public feed with the rest of the episodes. The old episodes will stick around and be available for the public.

Watch Out for Fireballs!: One episode per month will be a premium episode. The full premium episode will go onto the private Patreon feed. Subscribers to the public feed will get a preview episode that goes up through the generalities. If we're doing a two part episode, we will never make the first part public and the second part premium.

Adaptation Decay: All episodes will be available through your private feed.

Duckfeed Presents Specials: All episodes will be available through your private feed.

In conclusion, the answer to your question is that if something is outlined as a Patron benefit, the best way to get it will be through your unique, private Patreon RSS feed. Patreon will automatically determine what you should get, according to your backer level.

The days of messing around with multiple private feeds for different stuff are well behind us.

Thank you so much for your support! Hopefully this clarifies things.

Hi. I'm having trouble with the feed. It's only showing 28 episodes, seemingly chosen at random. Anyone got a fix for this? Thanks!

Hey Aaron When this happens it's usually one of two problems. You either signed up for a dollar amount but didn't select a pledge level, or you need to unsub and resub (You shouldn't be charged again, and if you are, we'll happily do a refund). Lemme know if that works!

How do I access old premium watch out for fireball episodes? I put the RSS feed into my app but it’s showing empty.

aaron brazier

Great, I'll keep my eyes peeled. I've still got 222 episodes of Abject Suffering to get through in the meantime :)

Coleman Ellis

Right now, it's the omni feed because it's out of our hands. We're working on a new way currently though, and should have an announcement soon.

If I want to listen through the backlog for Exquisite Suffering or Guppy, is there an easy way for me to do that through a podcast app or do I just have the omni feed?

Coleman Ellis

Ah, I've got it working now, there was an additional layer of patreon's terrible website that I had to get through to find it. I had to go to duckfeed's page, then go to my membership section and scroll down until I found my private rss url.

Darren

Where are you running into friction, if I might ask? Our interface on our end looks different than yours does, so as far as we know, this should still work.

What is the most up to date way to get access to my premium podcast feed? As these instructions don't apply any more, as far as I can tell.

Darren

That worked, thank you Kole!

Any podcast app that lets you input a custom URL (which Podcast Addict lets you do, I believe) should work. Please make sure you're copying the URL from the website (the sidebar at patreon.com/duckfeedtv) and not from the email Patreon sends. The text of the email link is correct, but the URL it points to is behind a weird redirect that won't work in podcast apps (it's done). - KR

Do you have any recommended podcast apps to use for the premium link provided? I've tried on both Podcast Addict and Castbox and can't get it to work.

Patrick Foley

Patreon doesn't have a way to set up premium feeds by anything other than patron level, sorry to say. We can differentiate by dollar amount, not by show.

Looking for help to get this synced with my phone. Tried several podcast apps and pasted the URL and I get an error message, saying that the URL is not recognized. I copy and pasted as instructed. Is there something i'm missing?

Tom Works

OK, I had to uncheck "Unread Only". Now I see them!

Paul Thacker

Yup, I just got my RSS feed URL and I have 112 episodes, which Im assuming is everything in the feed now.

Is the backlog content up yet? I added the RSS to Feedly, and the oldest podcast I see is 12-7-2018. I'm looking forward to catching up on some old Exquisite Sufferings.

Paul Thacker

I like this Format , It allows me to actually use my Patreon Benefits , Before I would have to try and listen to it thru the webpage and I prefer it on my phone. This simplifies things. It will also allow me to listen to content I may have otherwise not listened to. Yay for BSC !!!

For Android users, if you're looking for an app that allows custom feed URLs, I'd recommend either BeyondPod or Pocket Casts. I've tried most of the other "big" ones and they're either overly-cluttered, or don't allow this feature. I prefer Pocket Casts now, but used BeyondPod for a LONG time. Pocket Casts seems to be better about maintaining your settings to download to the SD card for non-rooted phones, for example.

I just want to double-extra-confirm that I can now unsubscribe from my regular WOFF feed because ALL of those episodes will be released in the RSS feed (along with the other shows)? I'm looking forward to giving some other shows a try, thanks for all your hard work!

Matt Schirano

Ok, thanks for confirming.

To followup on Kole's video — on your phone you can go to Patreon on your web browser and obtain the link, just not through the app. This at least works on Android phones

Weakened Warrior

You are. We've heard that once or twice, but we've heard far more often that people like having all the shows in one place. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Duckfeed.tv

If I understand this correctly this means that the patreon feed will contain not only premium content, but all duckfeed content (as early release) ? This seems like it will be a pain in the ass since I don't actually listen to every show on the network. Am I understanding things correctly?

Jaxsun McCarthy Huggan

Can confirm premium RSS works as advertised!
