Bonfireside Chat Appendix: Sekiro Early Game Responses

Whoops error in how I phrased that. Gyoubu has some different dialogue if you attack him during his "MY NAME IS..." speech. He gets pissed and does the charging spear spin attack he normally opens phase 2 with.

When I first started this game the narrative around Fromsoft difficulty had me so nervous I tiptoed around to Kuro’s room at the start expecting something to burst out of a chest or crevice and end my life at any second. I’ve now finished it three times (and repeat playthroughs are not normal gaming behaviour for me anymore). As a total newcomer to Fromsoft, I urge anyone put off by that difficulty narrative to at least try it, as you might find it’s more accessible and fun than you thought it would be. The other great thing about taking the leap or maybe zip line-grapple with Sekiro was it made me discover BFSC thanks to my brother who is also a patron, and all your content which I’ve enjoyed massively so cheers. Also I hope you guys do play through with the “evil” Shura ending at least once, it has one of the best boss fights in the game and some of the best character beats and cut scenes, and I would love to hear your analysis as always. -Jon

Bonfire side chat Some things about the early game - I really thought I pointed out the opening being the same as ds1 lol - Another strange similarity is that WOLF is abandoned on a battlefield as a child , a grisly old mercenary man takes him in as his own and trains him. It seems very similar to guts , his mercenary adopted father, and that entire situation. Just not quite as grim - The ako and Gachiin candies are actually really useful. Especially Gachiin as you can almost walk right up to enemies while under its illusion - Three items seem to have solid lore significance when it comes to their placement: the Gachiin sugars represent the rat assassins/ the yellow candies represent Shinobi hunting misen monks/ dragon blood droplets literally represent a divine heir being in that location - I thought the early game bosses were all great and justifiably beatable except the ogre sucks - I love hanbei. Hanbei is wearing the Ashina grunt armor - I love anyama the peddler. He is Sekiros version of patches. He is a merchant. He was a thief. He wears an eye patch. His clothes are straight up made out of patches. - What’s with all the broken bridges? Is it our big snake friend? - The phantom kunai item explains that lady butterfly trained in a misty forest. We travel to a misty forest later. The kunai also has bright butterflies follow it when thrown. These butterflies are also seen in this misty forest. Finally lady butterfly uses illusions. This misty forest we visit also has illusions - All the fires in the outskirts are burning bodies - The bandits from Hirata have a wheat symbol . This symbol can be seen throughout the outskirts on a red banner
