Duckfeed Presents: Midsommar

Hot on the heels of last week's discussion of Hereditary, Kole has taken Gary's advice and watched Ari Aster's followup: Midsommar. It's a strange movie that's simultaneously more conventional and more "out there" than Hereditary, but we appreciate it for different reasons.

I would be curious to watch Midsommar with an American audience to see how it differs from my viewing in a Swedish cinema. There were definitely a fair number of laughs when I saw it and I feel like most of them were from the portrayal of the cult, at least to me there was something absurdly funny to how non-threatening a lot of the cult members felt while simultaneously being actually sinister. But it might just be that I cannot for the life of me take Swedish accents seriously.

Seconded.

The VVitch is VERY good and I think both of you will dig it a lot whenever you find time for it.
