Though this Roger Corman film bears the title of a poem by Edgar Alan Poe, it's really an adaptation of Lovecraft's "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward". It stars Vincent Price, whose charisma brightens up a strange film that's at turns slow and schlocky, making it absolutely worth the watch.

Have you seen The Abominable Doctor Phibes? Its basically Vincent Price in a proto-Saw movie. Its really fun!

2024-10-28 20:50:58 +0000 UTCWoah, I had no idea that my dude Vincent Price was in a Lovecraft adaptation. He's my favorite horror actor, and Theater of Blood, where he plays a disgraced Shakespearean actor murdering critics like he was in Shakespeare times, is my favorite old horror movie.

2019-12-02 01:10:05 +0000 UTCDagon! Dagon! As much as I like Reanimator and From Beyond, I think Dagon is my favorite HPL adaption I've seen to this day. Although, having zero knowledge or buildup of it before watching may have coloured my opinion.
