I mentioned previously that I've read all the Shadowrun novels, and one of the good ones covers the fall of Chicago to the bug spirits. Shit got real bad, REAL fast. I agree that it would make for a pretty cool game setting. One of the other noteworthy stories is actually a trilogy of books, covering the death of Dunkelzahn and what actually happened. All I'll say about it is that the Dragonfall ending where all the dragons get wiped out, would have been a lot worse than anyone could imagine. I'd say a solid 70% of the books are "meh", but even the bad ones have interesting hooks. BTL chips that kill, A cyberzombie coming to terms with his existence, even a Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven story of hardened runners who decide to protect a downtrodden community of dregs from the MegaCorps that want their land. The setting is brimming with good hooks.
