Unfilmable 15: The Endless

Aaron and Justin escaped a cult as kids, but a mysterious video tape draws them back to answer questions about what was really going on there. What they walk into is cosmically and existentially horrifying in a way that would actually spoil too much if I said too much about it here. Not gonna lie, we really like this movie, and we encourage you to watch it first before hearing our discussion. It's available on Netflix as of the time of this posting.

I'll sorely miss this show when it wraps. I don't have the stomach for horror movies...so I love absorbing these stories through this medium. Anyway, as always, you guys are awesome.

Right! But that's really interesting. Vampires are still horny!

My read was that they worked that out of their system. They're all hundreds of years old so the pleasures of the flesh are old news. Now it's card magic.

Lastly, I watched Resolution years ago. I liked it less than The Endless. I don't think I saw Spring.

And another thing is that this is the most sexless cult of all time. Well, I think there were some utopian-vegetarian cults here in Illinois that forbade sex, but they died out. I guess I mean movie-wise. And they know about sex and don't have any laws against it, but they have no interest. I love how weird that is.

I liked how in Midsommar the cult is proven to lie. And here the big brother, the hero, is the liar. Great way to complicate the character of the cult.

This is a great movie (which I found through looking at lists of Lovecraftian media, as you mentioned), and you guys did a great job covering it. This show has been a real treat, so it's a shame to hear it's going away so soon. Hopefully another movie focused show will follow (you're both quite good at the format), and Annihilation makes it in before the show concludes.

..there was a notion, briefly, in the back of my mind that just as the episode wrapped up, the closing theme finished, it would continue, back to the begining and play the episode all over again...
