How Long Does A Video Take?

Someone asked me on Discord how long a video takes. The answer is, it depends. A few things go into making a lore video

The Research.

Reading and re-reading items, paying attention to in-game elements when I play, listening to documentaries, reading stuff about ancient history, etc, are some of the elements that go on into the research. When I can, I take notes, and eventually ideas start forming!

The Theme.

Once I have a general grasp on something (whether it's items or IRL stuff) a theme, or an idea, usually pops right at me. At this point I explore that theme more deeply, and take more notes and do more research.

The Script.

Once I have enough stuff on the theme which I picked, I can stat to shape my notes into an actual story.

The Footage.

With the story ready, I come up with a sort of a story board. Then I record the footage necessary for the lore.

The Voice Over.

I record the script. Voice over is fun, but can be time consuming. I usually restart it several times. For longer scrips, it may take several days to get the voice over to an acceptable level lol. At times this step comes before I gather the footage,

The Editing.

Once the footage and the voice over are complete, I edit the footage and voice over into a lore video.

I add text when needed. I pick the background music which I usually end up tweaking as well in order to fit the footage and the voice over.

How Long Does It Take?

In the end, it really depends on each element. The whole process can take from 5 to 10 hours in the shorter videos. While the longer videos may take 20, 30, 40 hours or more to complete.

At times the research and script writing take up a long time. While at other times the voice over, the footage and editing may take up the chuck of the time.

Well that's about it, thanks for reading. I hope it answered your question! :D
