Bonfireside Chat 198: Dark Souls Card Game

We seek to answer the question of whether or not this is a good Dark Souls tabletop adaptation, but the more pertinent question is whether or not what's special about Dark Souls can captured outside of video games. Steamforged made an attempt at a Dark Souls board game, and we don't really like it. However, they distilled its best parts into a faster card game, and it works a little better! Listen for the particulars of how it works, and how it relates to Souls' unique mechanics.

You should be able to get it on android. There's nothing on our end we're doing to stop the RSS from working on that platform. The individual podcast app might not agree with the RSS, however.

If I know I'm going somewhere without wifi I use the mp3 download link to listen and then delete when it's over.

Same here! New member and not sure how to listen to the podcasts easily without using patreon via internet on my phone!

Hi, new member here. Can I get your BSCR in a podcast format on android? I use Podcast Republic a lot

Relating to Kole’s mistrust of Steamforged products, I have both the Dark Souls and the Resident Evil board games. I agree 100% with your criticisms of the Dark Souls game. However, I strongly encourage you to give Resident Evil a try. I think it does an excellent job as a survival horror game, creating an atmosphere in which you never feel safe, resources are scarce, and forcing you to make tough choices between fighting and running.

Thanks for the clarification

Not this time. We do more stuff than we did then, and the scheduling is just too difficult to do consistently.

Hey G&K, on your upcoming Elden Ring Content. As this is a proper Souls game, will you be going back to the formula of guests on the episodes like all the other titles (minus Sekiro)?
