Per-Show Feeds on Fireside / Troubleshooting
Added 2022-03-02 18:37:41 +0000 UTCOur podcast hosting service offers private feeds for Patrons, and you can subscribe to each show you want to individually. All premium content can be accessed through this, except for Early Release feed. See our pinned post for more information on that.
The huge caveat here is that THIS MIGHT NOT WORK FOR YOU. The implementation that Fireside has is extremely fickle and some credentials just won't work, for reasons we don't understand, which means we can't help you with them. We apologize for the inconvenience.
To access a show's RSS feed:
1. Go to a show website and click the "Subscribe" link in the header.
2. Click the "Get My Personal Feed" link at the bottom of this page.
3. Enter the email address you use on Patreon into the form that appears. Case sensitivity is extremely important here.
4. You should receive an email from Fireside shortly, and it will contain your private RSS link.
Here are links to the subscribe pages for all of the shows with premium content.
- Bonfireside Chat: Current episodes are patron-only and will show up on the same feed as the public episodes when you subscribe to your private feed.
- Real Lich Hours: Current episodes are patron-only and will show up on the same feed as the public episodes when you subscribe to your private feed.
- Watch Out for Fireballs!: Premium episodes will be delivered alongside the other content within the WOFF! public feed when you subscribe.
- Abject Suffering: The Exquisite Suffering episodes will show up alongside the public releases of episodes when you subscribe.
- Unfilmable: Monthly episodes are delivered to the private feed when you subscribe.
- Adaptation Decay: Monthly episodes are delivered to the private feed when you subscribe.
- Duckfeed Presents: This is where you'll find miscellaneous content, which is released intermittently when we have time.
Disclaimer About Pledge Cancellation: If you cancel your pledge at any time, the feed will stop pulling new episodes. It won't extend you to the end of the month, so make sure you have everything you want before you change your subscription tier.
Disclaimer about Pocketcasts: Due to the particular way PocketCasts handles adding private feeds, these Fireside feeds will not work with that app. Trying to subscribe to a feed will just pull back the publicly available version. This is frustrating to say, but if PocketCasts is your primary podcast app, you will need to use another app for our per-show feeds. Google and Apple both have free podcast apps that should work fine. We don't have any control over this, and we regret the inconvenience.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If you're reading this, you're likely having trouble using the Private RSS feed provided to you by Fireside, using your Patreon authentication. Since we launched this, we've received feedback about problems people have had, and I want to address those issues so everyone can get on their way to listening to our podcasts and forgetting about copy and pasting URLs.
This will be a living post, and I will have Patreon update you when I make major changes to add information.
IF NONE OF THIS WORKS
If none of the tips I give below work (and please double check), you will have to use the Patreon feed described in the main "how to get your benefits" post. If you subscribe to both that feed and the Early Release feed, you will get every single piece of content that's coming your way.
PROBLEM 1: EMAIL CASE SENSITIVITY
I have no clue why, but both Patreon and Fireside are persnickety about their email records being case sensitive. The most common error we've encountered is people typing in their email and the cases of certain letters not matching up, resulting in a failed lookup.

Oftentimes just making sure the email address you type into the Fireside form is all lowercase will work. If this doesn't work, you will need to look up the exact email address that Patreon has on file.

PROBLEM 2: I CLICKED THE BUTTON
The email that Fireside provides has a button that says "Get My Private Feed". This is a direct link to the RSS feed that you will need to subscribe to. This will look like gibberish code to you.
What you need to do is Right Click or Tap and Hold the button and hit "Copy Link", then paste that into your podcast app. Here is Patreon's helpful post with podcast apps and instructions, if you've never used one before.
I wish Fireside would make the instructions more clear, but I don't have control over that. If you use the instructions above, it will get you what you need.

2024-09-29 23:36:23 +0000 UTCSpecifically the Unfilmable private feed isn’t getting any new shows since Jun 27, 2024. I’ve resubscribed and the feed itself doesn’t have the new episode files.

2024-01-08 00:08:50 +0000 UTCDoes anyone here use the apple generated email forwarding when logging into Patreon? I’m attempting to get a Bonfireside Chat specific feed on Apple Podcast apps. I haven’t had any luck using the auto generated email that forwards to my personal email.

2023-11-01 18:57:21 +0000 UTCEvery per show feed is working fine for me in pocket casts. I added from the android app. They may have fixed this issue. Or we are both randomly lucky.

2022-08-04 17:31:06 +0000 UTCI've been trying to request the personal feed link for a show, like BSC, but this is not working. It says they cannot verify my email is subscribed.

2022-07-21 18:21:14 +0000 UTCI'm having the same issue with Unfilmable in Firefox - just getting a page loading error - but it worked in Chrome if I authorized the page loading in spite of a warning. Ah the internet!

2022-07-18 22:48:58 +0000 UTCFYI, I have WOFF and BFC both working in pocketcasts, so maybe that issue is fixed now. I added them from the web app, if that makes a difference.

2022-07-08 19:27:43 +0000 UTCI had to launch all the email links so they loaded in a new browser window, then take that page's URL and subscribe using that to get the individual feeds to work. I'm using Grover Podcast on Windows fwiw.

2022-04-01 22:09:28 +0000 UTCThis is really odd - I followed the instructions and received emails for WOFF and Bonfire private feeds using my Patreon email address. I copied the link from the email directly into Pocket Casts. The Bonfire feed looks to be the premium version with all of the episodes, but the WOFF feed looks to just be the standard feed with episode previews for the monthly premium eps. But if I take that same WOFF link and copy / paste it into Google Podcasts, the version of the Podcast it adds to my subscriptions has the premium episodes available in it. Does anybody else have a similar experience?

2022-03-14 20:12:26 +0000 UTCUpdate: it's working now! Previously I couldn't access the sites, but now the redirect issue is resolved. Got my feeds set up. :)

2022-03-04 19:54:10 +0000 UTCI signed up to hear you all play through Returnal on Pocketcasts. I was hoping to find the strength to get through Returnal here, and now I am awash. I appreciate what you all do, keep doing it.

2022-03-04 04:44:12 +0000 UTCAnyone having luck getting the Adaptation Decay feed to load? I managed to get everything else, but that one always claims it doesn't exist.

2022-03-03 23:21:38 +0000 UTCThis is super helpful and really well presented. Thanks for all the work you put into this!

2022-03-03 16:16:04 +0000 UTCI don't know how to solve that issue right now. Try it in a new app. Maybe a cache will clear and it will work. I don't know why Duckfeed Presents isn't showing up. What app are you using? If there's something you aren't using in the meantime please fall back to the general private Patreon RSS feed as outlined above.

2022-03-02 21:57:37 +0000 UTCLove this! WOFF, Bonfireside Chat and Abject Suffering all worked great! However, the Unfilmable and Adaptation Decay URLs keep throwing "too many redirects" errors for me, while Duckfeed Presents doesn't seem to exist.
Anders
2022-03-02 21:55:09 +0000 UTCLove this, and I hadn't realized there was a WOFF-specific Premium feed! Also, I had been doing some data analysis on WOFF eps, and noticed you cleaned the ep titles, which is awesome. Thanks for everything you do, Kole!

2022-03-02 21:02:19 +0000 UTCI love this. This isn't a pile on so please no need to answer but was something done differently for the BFSC feed versus the others? I can get that feed to work on PocketCasts (might just be you started a new feed since the other one wasn't ever going to update again but I'm unsure). More curious than anything. Thanks again for all you do.

2022-03-02 20:01:00 +0000 UTCah, cool, thanks

2022-03-02 19:51:36 +0000 UTCYou can still get those by subscribing to the new Early Release feed. Check the pinned post on the main page.

2022-03-02 19:47:04 +0000 UTChey kole, question: will we also be getting a premium feed for guppy? i know it's guppy, but i do genuinely like having the hour-long episodes once a week
Cassandra Banner
2022-03-02 19:43:07 +0000 UTCI have the same problem, so it isn't just you. The rest worked fine.

2022-03-02 19:38:39 +0000 UTCOh awesome, I love the backer specific feeds. Thanks Kole! Today seems like it's monumentally annoying. Appreciate the painstaking work.

2022-03-02 19:38:05 +0000 UTCThe premium feed will catch every piece of Patreon exclusive content, and the Early Release feed will get the rest. You can opt to merge the two using the tools I linked in the pinned post on the main page.

2022-03-02 19:11:19 +0000 UTCAlso sorry you gotta deal with all the technical snags Kole. That’s never fun

2022-03-02 19:09:44 +0000 UTCThey aren’t working for me on iOS/overcast still. Will the premium feed still catch everything?

2022-03-02 19:08:55 +0000 UTCI don't know why Duckfeed Presents wouldn't work. I'll throw it on my pile.
