Until Dawn showed how you can take steady principles of narrative adventure games such as The Walking Dead, or, shudder, Indigo Prophecy, and evolve them into something new and fun on its own. Very fun performances, a twisty plot, and appropriate interactivity make this one of, if not the, best "interactive movie" in games. Give it a listen!

You can absolutely shoot Ashley in face. I did a “let’s try all the wildest options” playthrough and did that. If I’m remembering correctly it gets brought up in the during credits police interviews.

I really like Supermassive's use of actors and this fixed-narrative design that lets me feel like I'm in control of things while having actors bring fun personality to the characters. I think the first two Dark Pictures Anthology episodes were interesting, but the narrative leaned too heavily on "Actually, THIS was what the monster was." House of Ashes really turned it around for me by doing what I think Until Dawn did as well: leaning even further over the cliff of crazy town bananas to pull even more insane pulp nonsense to have the protagonists deal with.
