Bonfireside Chat 206: Limgrave South and North

This week we head to South Limgrave and check out Agheel Lake and meet Sellen and Patches, before heading north to the introductory parts of Stormhill. Next week we'll be looking at Stormhill proper before heading to the Weeping Peninsula.

As a reminder, we're messing around with a weekly schedule to see if we like it. Please let us know if these shorter, more frequent episodes are working for you.

Oh man just now listening to this years later has me chomping my own tongue!! You guys had so many idks that get answered!! You almost certainly know now. Like about Patches or Yura. Can’t wait to hear the episodes where you get surprised lol.

Jessie joy

I actually love the shorter format, the episodes are so dense that it’s actually working better for me. I was ride and die 2 hour episodes but I’ll admit to being wrong.

John Mickey

The tiniest thing, There is definitely a sun in the lands between guys. You can see it sometimes during the day. Also the erdtree still glows at night so there has to be one anyway

JB

A fun story about the Tower of Return, I was messing around there with a friend, taking on the giant there, when something fun occurred. We were invaded, and the invader brought the elevator up to the site of grace. So after dispatching them, I was able to skip straight into the capital, well before I even took on Rahdahn.

It was interesting to hear your take on Margit being more difficult than most Dark Souls bosses! He's definitely tough, but I'm not convinced. I'm testing the theory by going back to DS1 and fighting Manus, which is one of the bosses I had the most trouble with.

Emil

You can also join his world to fight an invader right in front of the elevator to Raya Lucaria! You have to be looking really closely to find his summon sign though, so I think most players miss it. He'll also talk a bit about why he's looking for Eleonora. Which is too bad, he gifts a really good smithing stone for the area.

Emil

That and if you do get past the bridge, there's the greatbow golem, plus a night's cavalry if its nighttime! Legitimately a terrifying start to a newbie area, even if those encounters aren't nearly as challenging as they look.

Emil

I’m gonna be that guy who sorta enjoys the longer bi-weekly episodes. But ultimately I want whatever is easiest for you guys. Love it either way. Not a bad issue when my nitpick is wanting longer episodes! By far the best games club podcast. I love souls games, but enjoy all your content. Heh heh heh heh…

The Human Tornado

Love the shorter, once a week episodes.

Daniel Phillips

I'm loving the weekly schedule. Thanks for all the awesome content!

Austin W Smith

I appreciate switching to weekly! Can’t get enough of that tasty souls talk

Caleb Irle

Just to add to the Yura discussion, he also appears at another location the other side of the lake to warn you about the dragon… again it’s touch and go whether you’ll meet him before you trigger the dragon. He’s under a ruin near the Seaside Ruins grace. You don’t need to meet him here to trigger the help with the invasion and vice versa.

For what it’s worth I think the new shorter more regular format is great.

Dan Aubrey

What a great surprise to have another episode so soon!

Jeffrey Carter

Those bulbs might not weak to fire but they stop poisoning you if they're on fire. Same with the Rot ones.

Tyler Feltz

“Bear is driving? How can that be?” Talk about a memory I forgot I had.

Cheddar Chet

I look forward to these every week. Thanks guys for the content.

Lance Covington

I love the weeky schedule and I am curious to see how you tackle Legacy dungeons in this form.

Mateusz Swietoslawski

Just wanted to chime in and say I’m enjoying the weekly schedule. Nice to have this as a regular Monday treat. I also found Arcane worked quite well as a little bit of spice added onto my Faith build, I have basically pumped up Faith as my main attack stat but having a few Arc points has really paid off with having those Mohg incantations attuned, especially post 1.04 patch. All hail Patches and already looking forward to next week.

Jon Cheetham

Regarding Yura, I wonder if you encountered him (sort of) in mountaintop of the Giants? I thought that was a great storytelling twist

Nathaniel

Great that they patched the game.

Owlology

Thank you and double thank you for the Clerks animated show reference. Somebody else actually watched and remembered that show, how can that be!

Adrockski

Love the new format of more regular episodes! It was a very nice surprise to find another episode ready to go! Keep up the great work 👌

Mitchell Turner

Really love weekly episodes! It feels nice to get a thing every week instead of every two weeks, even if it is the same content in the end. Y'all rock 🤘

Ethan Lamirande

I'm guessing Rogier will come up in the next episode or so.

superkeaton

Love the new format. Weekly is great. thank you!

CrabbyTerror8

Nothing much to add except enthusiasm for Patches. Always thrilled by the new ways FromSoft can use him. I just love that rascal so much, he can do no wrong in my eyes.

David

At one point Kole said Margit is “bad news” and i got a very stupid unintentional laugh out of that because dudes name is almost literally Margit the Bad News lol This episode has some of my favorite early game moments: the warp chest, Agheel swooping down on you, Patches! Limgrave is front-loaded with so many great enticing little surprises, From really went out of their way to encourage wanderlust beyond just having a big dude covered in spikes no-sell you at the front door

sleepysmiles

They don't stop right away and will eventually start moving again, but yeah, if you're wuick

Duckfeed.tv

Yeah, hope you are enjoying this new format, because I think is great, enjoy revisiting the game once a week.

RafaeL Carballo

Frequency feedback: fuck yeah on the weekly episodes!

ArdorsAndArbors

Excellent episode again, just one thing - you absolutely do not need to kill the trolls to stop the cart, you just need to attack them. Just want to save people dlokg unnecessary work!

Ak1raTron

It's because weeping peninsula has that big tough bridge before it. It's not actually that hard, but it's intimidating.

Duckfeed.tv

The new weekly format is fantastic. Love that you are still showing the same attention to detail. Ready for a nice long season.

Shawn

Looking ahead, It’s weird how so many people (myself Included) did stormveil before weeping peninsula. WP comes across as an extended tutorial and I felt massively over levelled for it once I got there.

Not today Satan

Havent finished the ep but just a quick correction (and even i may be wrong so don't carve this in stone) but on the subject of Arcane apparently Frost does not scale like the others. Thanks guys! Loving the series being back and weekly eps are fantastic!

Josh

Just saw email and remembered... I am happy with the once a week as well. Cheers!

Crash Jones

YES! I DON'T HAVE TO WAIT 2 FUCKING WEEKS

Drake Kincannon

Last week I was upset I didn’t get a two hour episode. Today I’m thrilled to get this shorter release on a week I hadn't originally expected it. Keep up the good work guys and thanks.
