What would you want to see in an updated Duckfeed website?
Added 2022-06-26 16:52:24 +0000 UTCHey, Kole here. I'm in the process of working on the new Bonfireside Chat, but I'd like to take this brief opportunity to do some audience research.
One of my next possible big tasks is making (or having made) a new Duckfeed website, since the old one has been the way it is for a while. This would obviously entail some aesthetic upgrades, but I want to ask you directly what kind of functionality you'd like to see.
I'm talking about things like landing pages, categorization, host pages, stuff like that. Things that would make it easier to find what you're looking for.
Things that are less possible are major improvements to the way Patreon-exclusive content is handled. That would require updates to the way Patreon itself serves its content, so it's not really under our control.
Just throwing this out there so I can add things to my whiteboard as I look at options.
Quick Edit: I understand the temptation to do joke answers, but for my own sanity in filtering through information, please refrain from them.

Cat pictures. Just cat pictures.

2022-07-02 03:22:13 +0000 UTCI would love a soulslike overview with your rough rating and links to the episodes covering each game. I may be an outlier, but I adored this mini-series and am currently listening to your episodes on death's gambit while playing through it. (grime next!).

2022-06-27 03:03:39 +0000 UTC100%, would love a database. Doesn’t even need to be linked to be useful…

2022-06-26 22:47:29 +0000 UTCA Pantheon of games that were formative or influential or you'd recommend, both to give people ideas for what games to play and to give folks a sense of your taste. Could be split into Kole's Picks/Gary's Picks if you want. There are so many games in the podcast feeds that it's hard for casual listeners to know what ended up being any *good*. Maybe also convert the Bernie section into Causes, with links to organizations the show supports in fundraisers and a little text to showcase values that inform the network.

2022-06-26 21:35:35 +0000 UTCI realize it may take focus away from the Slack, (and might be a lot of work,) but I'd love a forum. It'd be a great way to discuss specific episodes and engage with the community in a more focused manner. Maybe it's the faster pace or my general aversion to new apps, but I've never been able to engage with the Slack community on a deeper level -- as much as I'd like to!

2022-06-26 19:05:32 +0000 UTCI don't really peruse the website, but just off the top of my head: Monthly release schedule, like the one that gets posted to Twitter every month. Maybe a feed for the official Twitter pages with announcements while we're at it. An index of all games covered on the network (not practical for the Level, obviously). A link to the Duckfeed wiki, perhaps? I'll post more as a separate comment if I think of any. Thanks for all your hard work, both you and Gary.

2022-06-26 18:34:09 +0000 UTCJust cleaning up the archives of free stuff. Some indexing would be nice, like having a host profile with links to their respective show pages. I almost always use rss, but combined feed is not great for finding old stuff.

2022-06-26 18:26:33 +0000 UTCWill echo someone who else’s note about an episode list especially for WOFF. I go through the Cane and Rinse one pretty regularly and it is a great resource

2022-06-26 18:25:39 +0000 UTCI don't use the website right now at all, but if it gets updated and I can find shows and episodes a little easier I can see my self using it!

2022-06-26 17:59:48 +0000 UTCA running list of what the upcoming WOFF games which have currently been announced/are upcoming are, and what dates/weeks that episode will be airing. I find it a little hard to keep track of what games are upcoming as is. (It's possible that you already have this and I just can't find it.)

2022-06-26 17:54:07 +0000 UTCInstead of updating the website I would personally love to see updated content on the YouTube channel. Listening to y'all is nice but every once in a while I'd love to see a video broadcast episode or just more let's play content from either of you.

2022-06-26 17:48:40 +0000 UTCBetween Patreon, slack, apple podcasts, I think I’ve used the website exactly once when it was linked from a banner ad in a forum. I’d certainly welcome and check out updates periodically, but probably not regularly…. Maybe like linked (unedited) VODs from past streams if there is anything readily sitting out there not on the YouTube channel?

2022-06-26 17:45:09 +0000 UTCThrowing in my vote along with the others calling for a forum. It can be difficult to meet like-minded people, with a sense of humour as delicious as ours - while you already do so much for us (and our money), the best thing you could do, arguably, is really bring us together with fellow degenerates.

2022-06-26 17:32:56 +0000 UTCMight seem silly but a section of just y'all's cat's photos (updating with new pics you feel like sharing) would be great, if yall are willing

2022-06-26 17:29:58 +0000 UTCA voice Dropbox. Like a jukebox for each episode. Sometimes things get lost in translation via text. Listeners can leave a voice comment.

2022-06-26 17:17:05 +0000 UTCI think forums would be fun. Might just be a me thing but I don’t like slack or discord for online chit chat.

2022-06-26 17:16:04 +0000 UTCOne thing I've really wanted for WOFF is some kind of way to see, say, all the episodes by genre. Like all the JRPGs episodes, or shooters, or adventure games. If it's through a tagging system, or just a page that has a database of episodes, or even just a page with episodes sorted into various categories, that would be wonderful. Another similar thing that would be amazing would be a few themed lists that would be useful both to new and longtime listeners—WOFF Hall-of-Fame episodes for your very favourite games, or Ten Episodes for New Listeners that really showcase what the podcast is about.

2022-06-26 17:12:39 +0000 UTCDefinitely all the shows you all do with a explanation of what they cover.

2022-06-26 17:10:51 +0000 UTCEach show having a dedicated episode list. Doesn't need to have the description and audio link but I would like to see the episode number and title. Especially for the premium shows so it's easier to go back and see what content I should scroll for in my feed.

2022-06-26 17:10:32 +0000 UTCI think they have been posting them on pinned tweets on the Duckfeed channel lately, which has been nice

2022-06-26 17:01:37 +0000 UTCMaybe a tab that says what each of you are doing individually. Such as upcoming hexcrank news or other stream stuff for those of us who don't do social media.

2022-06-26 17:01:02 +0000 UTCThis, upcoming shows with projected dates would be splendid. Just putting the information that is usually in the duckfeed pinned tweet there would be great!

2022-06-26 17:00:44 +0000 UTCI'd like to see a tab or link called "Different Duckfeed shows" or something or just "shows" and it take you to a page that has a clickable title named after each show with a brief description of the shows. Not trying to ask for too much work on your part so really just a page that has a little information on each show you guys run. Been listening to Bonfire and Fireballs for years and somehow am still discovering new/old shows you guys did/do and am going back to them now! Thanks for all the hard work. I have my college 2020 JavaScript book still if you'd like it for free haha

2022-06-26 16:58:38 +0000 UTCA consistent place to check what is upcoming on WOFF.

2022-06-26 16:58:19 +0000 UTCI don't know if you all would sell duckfeed merch, but i would legitimately love to buy some stuff! Maybe a One-Product til it sells out kinda thing, then release a new product? Also, calendar with planned community events, response deadlines, etc would be nice.

2022-06-26 16:58:12 +0000 UTCI've got to say I didn't find the UI very easy to navigate when I wanted to sign up to the Patreon. It wasn't entirely obvious what I was meant to do and I kept being sent back round in circles. I'm also not too sure how, or whether there is a way, to see all the latest Elden Ring podcasts listed in chronological order, for example.
