Hey everyone - some of you have asked about my work desk setup - how do i take pictures, wich lamps do i use, wich camera do i have etc. So here is everything you need to know about my work desk setup :)
- The camera: i use for taking pictures & filming for my tutorials, wips & finished pics is a Panasonic DC-TZ90. Its a very decent camera, & i can highly recommend it if you want some very sharp pictures & recordings, as it also has a 4K function - its a overall great starter camera. I am though looking for a new camera as i want better video quality for my video tutorials
- The lamps: The lamps i use for my work desk is two LED Desk working lamps (Dimmable), from PK-Pro. The light from these is just amazing, & you adjust the power of the light, wich can be good in different situations. The colour temperature is 6500 K, and i can really recommend any lamps or bulbs that has a temperature around 5500-6500 for taking pictures, filming & painting, as it gives a natural light on your miniatures. You dont necessary need a lamp like this for the before mentioned purposes, you can easily buy a cheap desk lamp & a bulb with a colour temperature around 5500-6500 K (see last pic). My most important advice is that you have 2 lamps for taking pictures & recording, to secure that you light the whole miniature up from each sides. (see third picture)
- Background for taking pictures: The background is basically just a grey cardboard bought from a local book/ hobby store - nothing fancy at all :D I use a grey background as i think it gives a neutral look for the miniatures.
- Wet-palette: I use both the Studio XL & Painter wet palette model from redgrass games these wet palettes keeps my paints moistorized for hours, wich means that i still can use them even days after i have applied the paints to the palette. A wet palette is must have for a miniature painter in my opinion :) !
- Paint racks: I bought a whole box of different paint racks, from a local guy. But i know a lot of people who have bought some from hobbyzone.pl, where you also can customize the whole setup of them. Or else just search for Paints Racks on amazon or e-bay, & you will find loads of different products.
So this is pretty much my work desk setup. When i have my studio all setup, i will add some more pictures, so you can see the rest of it.
Have a great end sunday everyone, & stay tuned for more tutorials next week!
Best regards Nikolas
