Hey everyone - i just want to show you what i have bought for using oil paints - i am going to do a video tutorial for it, & one of the things i am going to show is how to use oils for recess painting.
- I have bought 2 winsor & newton artist oil paints - a black (mars black) & burnt umber. You can get these at the most local paint & hobby shops ( as i did ), but can ofcourse also get them online a lot of places. I have furthermore bought some cheap brushes, from a local hobby store. Both some small sizes with sharp tips, for recess shading & some larger flat headed ones - these are for blending. The reason why i bought these, is that the oil paints can ruin sable haired brushes - so i wouldnt recommend you to use the ones you use for acrylic paints.
- I have furthermore bought a aluminium palette, for having the oil paint mixes in. This was also very cheap, and its from AK interactive
- The last thing you need, is white spirits. I have bought some oderless white spirits at a local supermarket. Be aware of the fumes from the white spirits - you dont want to sit too many hours close to it, as you can get a headache - if possible, open some window close to where you are using it ! :D More information will come about this when i am going to do the video tutorial.
So, that is what i would recommend you to get, if you want to start working with oil paints. As mentioned there will be video tutorials for using these, so stay tuned guys!
Best regards Nikolas
