Basing the Chaos sorcerer 40K

Hey guys - as promised a small walkthrough for how i did the base for the Chaos sorcerer i did for Golden demon.

Step 1: I found a plinth that i liked, that also matched the size of the base of the Chaos sorcerer (40 mm). I have been told that this is very important for competitions like golden demon. This plinth is from Darkmessiah.

Step 2: I now added different levels of cork sheet - this is just bought at a hobby store.

Step 3: I now covered the whole thing, with Dark earth texture paint from AK interactive.

Step 4: I now added the different elements on the base, like skulls , spikes & the actual burning space marine. After that i primed the whole thing with Chaos black.

Step 5 : I now basecoatet the whole thing with a 1:1 mix of rhinox hide & abaddon black. From here on i added a mix of dark rust, medium rust & Dark earth pigments on all the most raised areas. I didnt add any pigment fixer, as i personally like the more dry look that you get, without using it.

Step 6: I know painted all the remaining elements on the base & it was done.

A very simple & cheap way to create a display base!
