Thoughts on art raffle/lottery as a reward?
Added 2016-07-22 22:49:54 +0000 UTCPatreon is known for not being loyal to the raffles offered as a reward tier, they think all patrons should have a 100% guarantee that they get all the rewards every month. It hasn't been always like this, but last year or so I've been hearing a lot about raffles as a no-no.
Still, I see lots of artists doing it and being just alright. I'm planning to add a monthly raffle upon reaching $200/month, as I couldn't think of better/alternative rewards. It's not like my account is super widely popular and will qucikly catch patreon "police"s attention, rite? Or should I better be safe than sorry.. I dunno. Raffle seems like an okay thing to me, I don't get it why does Patreon hate it so much.
Your thoughts or experience guys? Have you seen someone actually having troubles because they offered a doodle lottery?
I've been told that maybe if I make an all-tier raffle, it'd be fine. Like, everyone has equal chances and no one pays extra. Another option that comes to mind is making a low-tier raffle (no-color sketch) and high-tier raffle (colored sketch).
Or maybe I should ditch that idea at all. Maybe there's something better I could do? Request stream for all tier patrons is already planned, but we need to reach a $500 goal for it..
I need your input because this bothers me >A< Yes for a raffle + ephemeral risks or no raffle + no risks???

Sorry if this isn't much help :/
