Yes! Umbra has been a ducal house longer than Dawn, and was one of the original supporters of raising the Dawns up from Counts into Dukes. Umbra, despite the origin of their name, is best known for their ability with water Classes. During a routine shifting of the seas, a high tier monster appeared and began attacking Duke Umbra’s ship —and even got away with the heir, who was there to learn from their father. Fortunately, a member of House Dawn was visiting one of the coastal cities nearby and was able to see the altercation at sea. Dawn then used every Skill in his arsenal to defeat the monster (the kind of which has been lost to time along with most details of this sordid affair) and rescue the heir to Umbra. When the war with the tribes of the west was concluded thanks in large part to the Dawns military capabilities, Umbra supported the Queen’s decision to raise the counts up to Dukes. Poplar was also in favor, however Nemo was against. In present day, all four Dukes are cordial and get along most of the time (except for that old fogey Duke Nemo, he only likes Duchess Nemo, but his children are nice!)

Also, Nadine for some reason really reminds me of the Frauenkirche in Munich, Germany. Aside of the two towers there's not a lot of similarities and the other two-towered city (unnamed harbor city in Umbra) doesn't trigger my brain at all. Weird. Weird brain o'mine.

(That happens to me in all serial publications where I have to wait from chapter to chapter. Reading too many of them in parallel and too much time between first chapter and most current one.)

2023-08-12 07:34:49 +0000 UTCIts amazing! I will have to dissect this later! Theres tons of little details, the monsters, the rivers and even the heights. They do like their towers thou. Cant help but noticed that Dawn and Umbra are "opposite" Demesne geographically with distinct names. Is there some special lore behind both of them and their relations?
