Their sojourn has been long, but their efforts finally gift them a safe place to call their own. The Alternate Prologue introduces roll tables for players to quickly establish their Kingdom Death: Monster campaign without resolving a showdown with the White Lion.
This expansion is recommended for a group of experienced KDM players who desire a streamlined method to start their campaigns. The prologue showdown is a very useful tutorial in understanding Kingdom Death: Monster mechanics and should be resolved whenever new players are introduced to Kingdom Death.

I think here is a matter of preference. The strength and resources may not be a guarantee, but it does get the campaign going more quickly in a way that honors kdm tables. Manual play may lead to more rewards but also more time. To me, the fun comes from the lack of traditional guarantees taken for granted by the prologue.

2021-02-14 16:47:17 +0000 UTCI may be a "powergamer" but IMO this start is not "good enough", you have a significant chance of starting the game without the mandatory +1 str and 0 additional resources, that would feel more like a double 1 for me (and be quite rare) instead of the ~60% chance according to the table...
