Bonfireside Chat 222: Roundtable Roundtable Liurnia, feat. Open Mike Eagle

This week's Roundtable Roundtable is packed with great stuff. First we interview the podcaster and hip hop artist Open Mike Eagle about Elden Ring and his history with FromSoft's games. You can find OME's website at mikeeagle.net and his Twitter @Mike_Eagle.

For the written interviews, we talk to Dillon Rogers and Dave Oshry of New Blood Interactive, the publisher behind the excellent throwback shooters Dusk, Amid Evil, and ULTRAKILL, and the upcoming banger Gloomwood.

Finally, we round out the episode reading your responses to the Liurnia of the Lakes episode, up through the Academy of Raya Lucaria.

Keep in mind that after last week's episode, the spoiler wall is gone. We won't be gratuitous with references to things happening later in the game, but understand that we'll start putting things into context.

Whoever wrote about Radagon being a Cuckoo, it adds a bit of credence to the theory if you believe Marika is Radagon within this time period. That’s quite cuckoo like

Good episode! It felt good to hear OME's thoughts on Dark Souls III as I they reflect my thoughts as well, and helped me put in words what I dislike about Elden Ring. Despite its man triumphs, I don't really look forward to replaying it, because there isn't anything I want to very much experience again, whereas in previous games there was some specific boss fight I was looking forward to. In ER majority of boss fights are either gimmicky and I don't look forward to repeating them, or they already repeated several times throughout the game and I am fed up with them.

It seems like I'm likely in the minority opinion, but the interviews don't really do much for me. It feels like they're all slight variations of the same questions and answers. The email/text interviews are especially bland and hard to care about. For whatever reason though, the write in comments from patrons are much more interesting and entertaining. Might be that they are more linked to the flow of the podcast instead of overarching generalities? Good work though 👍

Probably not on bonfireside chat, but he said he'd do a Days of Future Cast with me and Jeremy, and I sort of want to see if I can corner him into just chatting about TMBG with me. So, maybe! -GB

Wow, Open Mike Eagle is just about the best guest I can remember - eloquent, funny, gracious, and clearly knowledgeable about From games. Any chance you guys can do more episodes with him? :B

When ER came out, I was between jobs, so instead of spending $60 on it, I bought Bloodborne on the ps store, and fell in love. I dropped close to 500 hours into that game between March and July, when I finally bought Elden Ring. Honestly...it took me until Raya Lucaria before it clicked. I spent my first 40 hours or so rather frustrated by the open world...but RL is when I finally got that feeling I got from Bloodborne.

Great ep. Reference to the other shows, you guys are spot-on about Unfilmable. It became the show I look forward to the most on the channel after I discovered it.

I echo the sentiment of bringing Open Mike back for more in the future. The best guest I’ve heard in this show in a while. WHENS THE GBV ALBUM BY ALBUM SHOW COMING OUT GUISE??
