As much as I have a soft spot for season 1, a lot of it consists of Jessie and Walt in screaming matches. Once the show hits its stride in Season 2 and beyond with the introduction of Saul/Mike and some of the other side characters getting more development (like Jessies friends), the show strikes a much better balance for me. The show also veers more away from Walt being "chemistry MacGuyver" as often which I appreciate. Still on the balance, even with its quirks, Season 1 is better than most other show's best season in my honest opinion. Also, I kinda wish we got more Tuco in Saul (especially to see how he and Lalo would interact). I feel like he really delivers one of the standout performances of Season 1.

2023-01-03 16:44:50 +0000 UTCI got into Breaking Bad toward the end of its run, as I was beginning my job as a High School Chemistry Teacher. The first day of school, every class asked me if my class was going to be like Breaking Bad. Every time, I said "I'm not going to lie; it's going to be exactly like that." Although the rest of the show is dramatic and gripping, I have a soft spot for the first season, where it really felt like they were going to try to use actual Chemistry concepts as a part of their narrative and as Walt's secret weapon. They only scratched the surface of impractical ways to melt a man.
