Bonfireside Chat 237: Deeproot Depths (Part 2)

We last left off in the Nameless Eternal City, casting our eyes upward to where the roots of the depths could take us. Today, we climb those roots and find ourselves in the shadow of Godwyn, the first of the demigods to die. And there, we resolve the fates of some other Tarnished, namely Fia and D's twin, in order to gain a new mending rune and open a possible ending for the game.

I think “it” may actually be happening. Fia is actually laying with a skeleton naked in the intro lol

I definitely think you folks are wrong when it comes to the Mending Ring of the Death-Prince and the Duskborn ending. It IS the big skeleton party ending. That's why it's dusk. It's between the light of life and the dark of a true death. A true death is when both the soul and the body dies, like what the Black Flame used to do. Fia loves Those Who Live In Death and so is against this. She wants the spread of undeath to continue, so she plans to use the mending rune to "embed the principle of life within Death into Order." This is why D's brother says there will be no more children after killing her. He means there will be no more of Those Who Live In Death because he thinks he's foiled the Duskborn ending, as he doesn't know the player has the rune now. True Death is reintroduced into the world no matter what ending you pick, thats why you have to kill Maliketh to free the Death Rune, so that things (including gods) can truly die again.
