Big Announcements for New Year 2023!

Hello everyone! Kole here. New years usually bring new changes around here, and we’re happy to announce some really cool stuff that’s going on behind the scenes. So give the below a scan, and let us know what you think down in the comments!

Welcome our new producer, Gwen!

We want everyone to extend a warm welcome to a familiar face who is taking on a new role. Gwen Static, a longtime friend, community stalwart, guest host, and theme composer extraordinaire is now Duckfeed’s first Producer!

She will be handling editing and publishing duties, and helping us with community support and admin. We couldn’t be more excited about her joining the team, and we can’t think of a better fit for the role.

Her help and creative input will free time for Gary and I to focus more on what we’re good at:  preparing and hosting the shows. She will continue to make guest appearances, likely more often than before, and also co-host…

A New $10 Show

We’re a little self-conscious that we only offer a single show, Adaptation Decay, at our $10 backer level. Starting in February we will be offering a new show at that tier, in addition to Adaptation Decay, hosted by Gary, Gwen, and myself.

It will be a combination of two things: Top 3 Rankings and watercooler chat. For help with this, we need your suggestions for things you want us to rank. Games, movies, genres, phenomena, objects… Look for a post soon with the form where $10+ backers can chip in with ideas.

More announcements such as the show’s name and its release date will be coming soon.

Content Sampler Refresh

Last year we began offering a Premium Content Welcome Pack to our $3 backers to give them a taste of what was on offer at the higher tiers, with the goal of bringing more people into the fold. With the new year, we’re adding some 2022 content to that welcome pack.

Duckfeed Community Facebook Group

We’ve started a new Facebook Group, the Duckfeed Community group, to replace the functions of the various pages we’ve started for different shows.

We really dislike Facebook. It’s a nightmare to use, and it’s a nightmare company. But as a media operation it’s difficult for us to just completely disengage from it. So we’re lessening our footprint by putting the various pages (which served our needs poorly) on mothballs and starting up this Group page. New episode announcements will show up there, and people who like discussing things on Facebook can discuss them there.

Stormveil Preview

As we approach a year of Elden Ring coverage on Bonfireside Chat, we want to put out more of the content from behind the paywall to draw people in. That’s why we’re publishing public versions of the two Stormveil Castle episodes on the public feed.
