Watch Out for Fireballs! 387: Subnautica (Premium)

We need to go deeper. It's time to sort rocks and drink... fish. Drink? Do you... eat a bladderfish or...?

Survival, crafting, survival-crafting. Subnautica. Dare you travel to the bottom of the ocean? Or be ye a landlubber?

Hey, if memory serves did not only the son return to the Island? The cowboy went off to fight a Leviathan, and died, and the father went deeper and deeper in search of his missing son, running out of oxygen (and potentially being killed by a monster as a trailer indicated), so the son lived out the last of his days alone on the Island mountain top?

Part of my love for this game comes from the fact that you get to pretend to be a xenoarchaeologist. There's just something satisfying about exploring and piecing together the narrative of long lost peoples who met some tragic ends. I also liked the part with the fish. Another note about Below Zero, they address some of the QOL issues, such as having a craftable chest which shares it's inventory between locations and a handheld resource scanner. Also its story is a much more personal one with a narrower scope. You're a woman who's trying to find out how her sister, an Alterra scientist, was killed while on a mission to the planet. You also learn a lot more about The Architects, and you find more information about the true fate of some of the members of the Degassi expedition. This game is also cannon for the Multiverse mod for FTL: Faster Than Light as far as I can tell.

I can only play this on the Switch because otherwise the big sea screen is too scary with my phobia of the ocean, lol. You guys are totally right, though. I definitely wouldn't reccomend the Switch experience to anyone who has an alternative. It's cumbersome feeling. Also my first playthrough i misread the "Degasi" as "degrassi" for a while. Degrassi: The Ocean Generation.

I love Subnautic, even when I hate it. For real, piloting the Seamoth and Cyclops in pitch black ocean water is a genuine struggle for me sometimes. But man, nothing beats building your perfect base with an ideal bedroom view and a three-story aquarium.

I want to watch like 5 minutes of the sitcom where Kole is the neat roommate and Gary is the sloppy roommate inside of Subnautica.
