Tarnished Archeologist also did an interesting video on the serpent/gladiator connection. Very informative: https://youtu.be/D0AQzqx3Epw

I can imagine people at mt gelmir going to fight at the colosseum on Friday not then going to celebrate afterwards at pizza hutt

The ladder I think is for co op, since you can’t have Torrent

I jumped hearing Patches in my left ear headphone at work. Stereo fright.

Casey Francis Alger

I definitely did not see the spirit spring up to the falling star beast

Charlie Frame

The Gelmir Patches encounter had me grinning, it took several playthroughs for me to stumble across it since I usually teleport straight there with Rya. I panicked seeing the basilisks, hopped on Torrent going the opposite direction, and promptly rode off a cliff to my death, which I found both embarrassing and slightly hilarious

Well I’ve officially caught up with BSC. I haven’t got an input this week but just wanted to say thank you for your commitment to podcasting, time to catch up on other shows!

I always thought the Abductor Virgins in Raya Lucaria was Rykard way of protecting his mother. In fact I think all three of her children may have used there abilities to protect her. Ranni obviously steps in to save her mother and Rykard with the abductor Virigins. I know its a stretch but I believe the summoned rolling ball that appears on the stairs may be Radahn 's magic at work.

Great episode again guys! Kinda weird reliving this game in my head slowly over the course of months.

Thomas Quillfeldt

I've finished this game 4 times and I have no idea about half of the things you've mentioned here.

Sean McGee

I swear I can prove that I have a young niece named Margot, named after her great grandmother, and we watched Chrismas Vacation over the last holiday.

There’s more to the snake/gladiator connection—Zullie did a video on it! https://youtu.be/IPu2zevKREA

Great episode guys! The connective tissue, for me at least, with the snake shield is that the gladiators used snakes as a symbol for the "bad guys" while role playing in the colosseums. We see this on the gladiator helms, which have snakes and also draw enemy aggro. This makes Rykard's blasphemy all the worse — he's buying into the bad guy trope a little hard. I'm imaging a world in which the devout citizens of Lydell are watching a gladiatorial match where the good, Markia-fearing knights fend off the evil, blasphemous, and snake-adorned gladiators. I really appreciate that through line found in both Lyndell and Mount Gelmir.

My partner’s name is Maggie and even I say, “I dunno Margo,” weekly in response to questions.

Chaz Wilson

Argh, damnit, I triggered the event that moves Patches to the Volcano Manor only the night before I heard this podcast. I'd have loved to have seen his little trick, and the insincere apology afterwards

Charlie Frame

I am not qualified to speak on behalf of the Margo community, however I knew immediately that Kole was referring to Christmas Vacation. I also think it is still very popular because I’ve seen branded “ugly Christmas Sweaters” that say the “Floor Wet Todd / I Don’t Know Margo!” line sold in pairs in recent years. And this Christmas season, the Chicken Fast Food Chain Raising Cane’s had Christmas Vacation branded soda cups. very weird… I have to imagine Margos still get that a lot since I still constantly get “Hey! Karl…. Good to see you!” from Billy Madison thrown my way regularly. either that or the awful Llamas with Hats “Karl” thing, for which I have no affection for. I think those sort of things are inescapable.

The Wormface near Road of Iniquity appears first as, I believe, a normal soldier enemy but the AI has a habit of walking too close to the fire triggering the transformation. Re: the arena, mass usage died off pretty quickly but it has potential since it offers a unique experience. The day before this episode dropped was Elden Ring's anniversary and a ton of players met up for a charity event in the arena. We created themed builds and did 3v3s with spirit ashes turned on. I had a blast with my Dracula build.
