The update with the Shadow Girl Theatre Homestuck preview - 07/01/2024

Hey all, hope it's going well!

Just wanted to swing by and touch base! The tl;dr is that things have been taking slightly longer to come together than I'd hoped, but are coming together much better now.

The script for the upcoming Death of a Wish/Born of a Dream video is at last in a good place, though it did admittedly take a while to get it that way. I got about a dozen thousand words into it before realizing that it wasn't coming together in a way that I thought would work, so I ended up having to rework it from the ground up. The historical connections I was hoping to weave into it felt less salient, less relevant than I was hoping they'd feel, and it just ended up coming off as more of a distraction than a piece of supporting evidence. After a point, I just had to accept that, while I had learned a whoooooole lot about 3rd century Christianity and the Council of Nicaea which I am positive will make for a very interesting video one day, it should not be this video.

Fortunately, the second draft worked wonders and I am now very excited to put it together! It's currently about 98% done and I'm expecting the final script length to be around 25-27k words. Will be giving it one last pass over the next couple days as I begin recording and editing. Think I've managed to make it into something that will be about as fun as a traveling through a world as bleak as these games can be, a nice mix of both queer love and queer despair. And if nothing else, I'm sure it'll feel, shall we say, pertinent in the way that the Pathologic videos did around their release.

As far as the podcasts go, while Perfect Parry has been put on hold for moment due to scheduling reasons, but Shadow Girl Theatre has been proceeding well! We actually had our first episode recorded and edited for a little while now. The only reason I didn't post this sooner is that I was hoping to be able to share it as a video with a light visual element along with what will be the official art. However, the first artist I worked with fell through, which made editing a video for it into a difficult proposition. At this point though, I'm just happy to put it out and give y'all a glimpse of what's to come.

With all the said, there will 100% be a preview of the Death of a Wish video by the end of the July, and I'm gonna be doing my best to make it a substantial one! My aim is to have this up on the channel and moved on to getting the script and asset production in order for Haruspex by the end of August, and I'm hyped to make it all happen.
