We were using a handheld recorder that might have had some goofy settings! Apologies. -GB

I love these guys - I've listened to every BSC episode several times - and I like Kole and Gary's speaking voices and quirks. That being said, I'm like 90% sure Gary and Brad are on coke lmao. Is the audio sped up? Why are they talking so much faster than usual? Not even a criticism, I'm just relistening to it and I can't stop thinking about how amped up they sound lol

Since G&K mentioned it on the show recently, I really think INFERNAX does the best job of this 2D platform Soulslike/Metroidvania genre.

seconding tails of iron! :) it's a fun game. i haven't beaten it yet so i can't speak for the endgame but i'm a good chunk of the way in and am enjoying myself. the sound design is cute, too.

I love ya guys

I love the old structure of the show AND the new structure of the show. Just wanna voice some support, really appreciate all the time and thought y'all put into this!

Daniel Runfola

Yup, I like them for all the reasons you said. Totally fiendish. And the Omen are there to be avoided, not fought imo

In regards to the author collaboration question: Bamco sent Brandon Sanderson a big ol Elden Ring box with a sword and a few other things. It also had a letter saying that they would be interested in doing a collaboration with him. Brandon Sanderson finished Wheel of Time after Robert Jordan died. He also wrote the Mistborn, Stormlight Archive, Warbreaker, Elantris, and a number of other fantasy novels that all take place in the same interconnected universe.

It's like they say "One hand washes the other and both hands INCINERATE ALL THAT DISTINGUISHES AND DIVIDES!" I thinks that's how it goes anyway!

I love the Shunning Grounds. Not only is it an extremely lore rich area with wide reaching implications for the story and setting as a whole, I find it extremely tense and fun to play through as well. I went there later in my first play through, and with my duel whip build (Urumi & Hoslow’s petal whip) I was able to effectively stun lock the Omen down there. I actually love how mase-like and labrynthian it is, and I like that some of the pipes you see and walk on top of are actually modeled on the inside and integrated into the larger environment. It’s probably my favorite sewer level in gaming.

Thanks for the support! Yeah, Nadia is a delight. She invited me to be on a retronauts recently and I took the opportunity to ask! -GB

I love the Subterranean Shunning Grounds! The catacomb in there blew my mind. What a delightful fake out when you think you’re back at the grace, but no! And I don’t even mind the maze or plentiful Omens lurking about. I have only completed it as a faith/strength build so that did help make it easier though.

I believe that the Fingercreepers are connected to/were created by Rykard. The ER wiki describes the Fingercreepers as "disembodied hands, grafted together and given life." There is also the portion of the Ringed Finger weapon description that says "some life yet remains in this legacy of an ancient act of blasphemy." The frozen corpses of the Fire Giants at Flame Peak are missing their hands and Flame Peak is where the largest Fingercreepers can be found. Many of the other places the Fingercreepers appear are associated with Rykard or his family. The Carian family also had trolls as allies and within their service. The Carian relationships with the trolls and the Fire Giants could explain the various sizes of Fingercreepers the player can encounter. I'm sure Rykard wouldn't be that picky about what hands he was harvesting for this. The Fingercreepers being set up as a defensive fortification at places like Mt. Gelmir and Caria Manor makes sense as Rykard wants to protect the various secrets of those places. I don't think creating the Fingercreepers is the grand "Blasphemy" that Rykard committed. At the same time, the Lord of Blasphemy should be capable of committing multiple blasphemies on his way to the capital-B "Blasphemy" that he is known for.

Really enjoyed both interviews! I did come here to see, does anyone else like the Subterranean Shunning Grounds? I really enjoyed the maze like structure with multiple short cuts. Sure, I’d admit that the Omen aren’t very fun to fight, but it’s probably the most scary the game ever got to me, dark tunnels with no way of knowing how long it would be and never knowing if I’d find and end. Sort of felt like an excursion each run. Not to mention it ends in one of the games weirdest and biggest reveals. Not a 10/10, but I did like it a lot.

Nadia Oxford, worlds collide! I am an avid Axe of the BloodGod listener so it was a real treat to see her as one of your guests. Even more exciting was the fact I didn't read the episode subtitle and was literally thinking I should recommended her as a guest when suddenly boom she was up next! She mentioned Octopath Traveler 2 and I would like to give it an enthusiastic second. I believe y'all are generally not big JRPG fans but this game is something special. A memorable party, beautiful art direction, an extremely compelling combat system, combined with a soundtrack that just slaps. The tie in to Elden Ring that Nadia mentioned comes from how much the games reveals itself by player digging. Experimenting with systems produces unique and rewarding experiences even within a much more confined map system. Finally thanks very much for reading my comment out! I am a longtime listener and very new commentator so that was really fun to hear! My wife was impressed 😁!

I was team stand reference, I clapped like a newborn orangutan when I heard it!

I didn't realize I would want this mashup but... here we are. If you haven't, check out dude's segment on Cabinet of Curiosities. It's great! -GB

There is a Mouseguard-esque Soulslike platformer called Tails of Iron and it's not bad at all!

To answer one of the questions you asked your guests: I want FromSoft to make a game based on the movie Mandy. Demon motorcycle gangs, hippie cultists, chainsaw duels, psychedelic power potions, ancient forests, horrible high rises, doom noise soundtracks. It would be fantastic

Charlie Frame

I would love to watch a Witcher-style Netflix series based on GRRM's novella, also incorporating bits of background lore, depicting various things that happened before the events of the game. Witcher's slightly janky, temporally disjointed style would actually serve it pretty well, I reckon. Jerren and Radahn pledging honourable death to each other whilst in the military; Miquella inventing the unalloyed needle; and of course the whole Ranni story. I'd totally watch this

Charlie Frame

I'd love to write in, but I fear it won't be read because it wasn't important enough.
