Bonfireside Chat 265: Mountaintop of the Giants (Part 1)

Mostly snow. Some giants though. Not in this episode, but eventually.

The enemies in this area have SO much HP 😩

I agree! I have always considered bell bearing a valuable treasure.

I didn't feel the disappointment with getting bell bearings. I like experimenting with different weapons and I'll usually have 10 ish weapons upgraded to +24 in addition to my main 2 at +25.

This point of the game gave me the same feelings that DS1 did post-Anor Londo/O&S. Everything we did in Leyendell just felt like a very fitting conclusion and the rest of the areas afterward just weren’t as memorable or enjoyable for me.

I hadn’t run into the Zamor evergaol, so entering the mountaintops and running into the Zamor there was a bit of a shock, since I figured they would be the regular mobs you fight here. I really struggled with them, so I left the mountaintops for awhile, not realizing that the Zamor are pretty much only at Zamor Ruins. It feels kind of weird to put some of the hardest regular mobs right at the beginning of an area, like they’re meant to scare you off from the area, when most of the rest of the area has mostly normal enemies

My first run of the Mountaintops and Endgame felt so punishing, but on my second run when i wasnt using scarseals and soreseals and i took my main stats to 60 (instead of thinking 40 was enough) it actually just kinda made it such a cakewalk for me. I wasnt dying in two hits and I was killing everything else in a few swings. It feels weird because I’m so used to stopping at 40, but this game really asks you to take it to 60.

I love the mountain top of giants, I personally love when a late level area is all austere and christmassy

Nice
