Just a heads up, Return of the Living Dead Part 2 is like a pg13 remake of this film. It's not...bad, it just comes off like some studio exec saw this movie and said "How can we shoehorn in a kid actor and repackage this. You know, for teens!" It even has Frank and Freddie back (same actors too) in an almost identical role. 3 goes back off the rails again, and while cheesy and dumb it's a great movie.

Tar man is genuinely horrifying, and seeing Frank and Freddy go through rigor mortis while being zombified freaks me the hell out to this day. There are so many deft genre touches throughout the whole film, and the tension between horror and comedy is so spot on it reminds me of what Blazing Saddles does with western tropes.
