Hey, y'all, not to outdo anyone, but to save any grief, I found the simplest way for me to take Grym down was to have two (or three) melee damage types armed with maces or other bludgeoning weapons stand right next to where he comes out and whack the crap out of him. I've done this a couple of times, so it works. Haste or potions of swiftness do help with this method. Also boots that keep you from going prone. I did try the forge hammer approach but couldn't get that quite right. Let's say Karlach, Lae'zel, shadowheart. And then your caster / bard whatever, standing by the switch to let the lava flow again if he cools off before you down him. I was unsuccessful with the forge hammer method each time I tried but this worked.

The orthon explosives you can make from the masks with Damon are really good

I love me a good “friendship ended with mudasir” reference

My favorite way to beat the Grym is with Karlach throwing the Returning Pike from the stairs above the platform. With an enraged throw it can prone him underneath the hammer. Also, potions of fire resistance for the mephit ambush FTW!

Love to hear it James! -GB

haha, done the Grym fight twice now and didn't know about the intended big hammer thing until I listened to this. Feel a bit silly.

Oh, interesting. I found Bernard much harder than Grym this time around.

Also, thanks for reading my comments! I took a look at them and noticed “pinder” is just a typo where I meant to write “ponder” Sorry!

Grym on Honor Mode is potentially the hardest fight in the game, I had to use whacky means like Minor Illusion, Spiritual Weapon and or Mage Hand to lure Grym into the hammer. I also had Gale throw all his books at him from the top which is funny. Definitely tough.

Good discussion of the palimpsest that is the Grymforge. It's been busy down there. Since Grym has only WIS 11 in Honor Mode, I've found Command to be very effective against him. He doesn't have real ranged attacks, so Commanding him to Flee/Approach/Grovel trivializes his Prime Target mechanic and helps position him under the hammer. I think of it as magically hacking the big dumb robot.

Hi guys, great show! I just wanted to share that I finally beat honor mode and got my golden dice this morning. Listening to the first episode when it first came out was what convinced me to buy the game. It's been a real blast. Thanks for all the work you guys do for the show! As a pathfinder player, I find the DnD lore familiar, but not identical so all the little lore segments are very fun.
