Unfilmable 63: Blue Velvet

It's dark and sinister and doesn't seem like anything. Kind of like Jazz.

Fire Walk With Me is one of the scariest horror movies by a (mostly) non horror director imo

Late comment - which behind the bastards episode is about transcendental meditation? Google search is FAILING ME

Love this film. Excited for the ep.

Kept waiting for the scissor scene from The Dead Zone for some reason, thought it was in this one

Eric

Kind of in the middle of Lynch films for me, but I do love seeing how much this film influenced Silent Hill 2. And the Roy Orbison Anime Music Video.

Love this film. Very, uh, formative experience for me and my friends at way too young of an age, lmao. Fave Lynch project.

I got a real soft spot for it! I haven't rewatched it since understanding gender politics, so I'm sure it's troubling. -GB

YES lynch ep!!! Growing up alone in the woods in the PNW, Lynch is THE guy. If you like jazz lol

As Good as It Gets is the second best romantic comedy of all time (after Tootsie)

Yup! I've been! Seeing the blade runner buildings, and because I'm fucking complicated, helen hunts dress from As Good as It Gets was super cool. -GB

Gary, did you know you can go and visit the severed ear from Blue Velvet at Movie Madness right here in Portland?! It calls to you!

Loved this. I know it’ll be awhile before you do anymore Lynch but I’d love to hear you guys talk about the conceptual overlap between Lost Highway, the OJ Simpson trial and Silent Hill 2. Basically the same story through three different lenses.

Shane

Lynch’s villains are the best. It’s a toss up between Booth and the entities from Lost Highway for my favorite.
