Watch Out for Fireballs! 441: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (Premium)

There's not room enough for two Kingdoms on this here overworld map.

This week we talk about A Link Between Worlds, a direct sequel/remix of the classic SNES Zelda title A Link to the Past. How do these two worlds actually find themselves intermingled? Who is the Lorule Link? Tune in to find out.

When Tears of the Kingdom has come up in past eps, Gary would mention that no one was talking about the story in the game. Now in this ep, Gary's friends (I believe the exact quote was, "Every single one of my friends and family members, as well as random strangers on the street") are telling him it's the talkiest game in the series. As Gary's oldest and closest friend, therefore, it is time for me to break my silence. I say the story in Tears of the Kingdom is surprisingly moving, and the game is no more talky than Breath of the Wild. (And since we're talking about expressiveness in play, Tears of the Kingdom takes Breath of the Wild's immersive sim stuff to a level that is jaw dropping.)

On the remake-sequel point: I feel like that is actually not new. Many SNES games fall into that category for me: Super Castlevania, Super Metroid, Link to the Past. They are all technically sequels, but they also all kinda return to the first game in their respective series.
