I think the "kid" you mentioned might have been Edward Laurence aka Radion Automatic, a colleague of Julian 'Jaz' Rignall who wrote for Mean Machines magazine at the time. Regarding the "r-slur" - it's unfortunate, yes, and anyone saying that in the UK would get the side-eye, but I think its level of offence was actually imported from the US more recently - it wasn't really considered an ableist slur at the time in the UK I believe. FTR, I'm always rather shocked when Americans liberally use the word "spaz" - you just don't say that in Britain. Lovely episode btw. I will be rewatchint

There was another UK video game show from around the same time called Bad Influence.
