Catching up on old episodes and this one doesn’t have the Real Lich Hours tag, which is how I normally binge listen, just FYI! Love the shows

Nicole Espina

So in my first playthrough (normal), Lorroakan shit the bed pretty hard. I had Aylin and Rolan on my side. Lorroakan cast a bunch of spells I mostly Counterspelled, then cast a freezing spell on Lae’zel which left the floor slippery, then jumped onto said floor and slipped prone right next to Lae’zel. Like one turn of her whaling on him later and he was down to a few hit points, and I had Scratch make the killing bite on him. Great wizard my ass.

Daniel Capizzi

I actually did not even notice the pillars or the questions that came along with them on the night song test, I just picked the portal that was the same color as the one from the shadow fell and made it through. Lorroakan and sorcerorous sundries is one of my favorite parts of the game. Such a fun encounter and dungeon, plus the sick spells you get here don't hurt anything either

Justin Schmidt

That did the trick. Dunno what was up. Sorry I didn't think of "turn it off and back on again" on my own before I called tech support. :)

Zack Johnson

Hey bud! Not that I know of? Other people have definitely been able to grabble it. Try unsubbing and resubbing real quick and see if that fixes it, and if not, let us know. -GB

Is there something going on with the feed for this episode? I keep getting "invalid media type" when my podcast app tries to download it. All other episodes seem fine.

I really thought that the mercenary was going to hurt Isobel whilst Aylin was fighting Larroaken. She pleads with her not to go, and the mercenary says he's going to get back at you for not giving him nightsong, and then when Aylin said something didn't feel right after getting her revenge I was certain we would find Isobel dead. I guess it's just generic "catch all" conversation in case you're the kind of psychopath who gives Aylin to Larroaken.

Ben Green

I never saw Loroakan’s death at the hand’s of Aylin, but that’s ok because what I got was much funnier. I managed to convince Rolan to turn on Loroakan for the fight, which proved to be unfortunate for Loroakan. He stepped a little too close to the railing and instead of using some glamorous wizardry Rolan just walked up and shoved Loroakan unceremoniously over the railing. It was very funny to see these powerful wizards just resort to pushing each other around like normal people, and Rolan got revenge on his horrible boss. For a character I didn’t really pay attention to in act one it was a great payoff.

Ethan Ward

There's some dialogue about her from Wyll too. I forget the specifics but he notices something seems off. There's a rare dialogue too if you got that scene where Wyll comments on the deception. Apparently he was told that she had a stroke. link to it here (it's pretty quiet, sorry about that) https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/1ee3of5/a_slightly_different_wyll_dialog_about_stelmane/ It's amazing how many little bits of dialogue in this game are so easy to miss

I agree that the redemption arcs for Sarevok and the other character you don't name shouldn't be assumed to have taken place in the original games. I still feel the portrayal of Sarevok is a few notes off. I never had the impression in BG1 or ToB that he was particularly devoted to serving Bhaal or furthering his ends in particular way, just that he wanted power and leveraging his heritage was the easiest way too it. Could just be me though - Larian really clearly took the lore from the first trilogy seriously, and I am grateful for that even if there interpretation of some characters doesnt line up with mine. Also grateful for the awesome game they made!

Jesse Ritz

Maybe I missed the reasoning in the game, but it bothers me how Dame Aylin is immortal seemingly just because she's an Aasimar. Tieflings and Aasimar are counterparts in that they've been influenced by their respective evil/good planes respectively, but like, that doesn't make Tieflings immortal, so why should Aasimar be immortal by default?

Xanax the White

I don't know what triggers it precisely, but I got it by basically calling him a scheming illithid at every turn, and I had used some tadpoles. The clip is up on YouTube as well, I found it with "The Emperor Duke Stelmane".

John Crandle

Whoa, really? Do you have to refuse any tadpoles for that? Thats awesome. Now I don’t feel so bad about betraying him every single playthrough.

Richard Cochnar

Apologies if this was already discussed as I did mention it in a previous response, but I wanted to talk a little about the Emperor and his manipulation of the player and Duke Stelmane. If the player rebukes the Emperor over and over again he shows the player what he did to Duke Stelmane, revealing she had no agency and was completely mind controlled by him. He says he would have done the same to the player, but couldn't due to the absolute. He shows his true colors here that he is just like any other Mind Flayer.

John Crandle

I remember there was a lot of speculation during early access about this. However, considering how he’s portrayed in the full release, I don’t think Lorroakan is Edwin.

Nicholas Ambrosio

Whoa! I gotta pick up that book. -GB

I love that using a summon to touch the lamp will impress the Djinn so much he litterally hands you some Gold and leaves in awe

Christopher Grunert Pedersen

One thing I love is if you Speak with the Dead on Lorroakan you can ask who is the stronger wizard him or Rolan. He struggles to answer at first but then admits Rolan is. This most likely explains why he treats him like shit cause he’s a fraud.

Christopher Grunert Pedersen

The 5e source book “Minsc and Boo's Journal of Villainy”, which came out in 2021, has an entry about Edwin that stated he killed and assumed the identity of Lorroakan. “While Edwin will often return to his homeland of Thay, he can most often be found in the city of Baldur's Gate. He has recently taken over Ramazith's Tower and adopted the identity of Lorroakan, the young mage who formerly lived in the tower (now dead by Edwin's hand).” Pg.114

Nicholas Ambrosio

After one playthrough, I will never not just use Knock in Sorcerous Sundries and the Gauntlet of Shar. Also, I feel like shit for doing it, but after I loot the lamp, I summon scratch and let him hang out in there for a bit.
