Adaptation Decay 90: Video Games in Cartoons

So enter a new kind of episode: a survey of video game-related episodes of popular cartoons! We assure you this isn’t just an excuse to talk about things we already like.
First we discuss three episodes of Adventure Time: “Guardians of Sunshine”, “Card Wars”, and “Dungeon Train.” Then we talk about one of the best Simpsons episodes of all time, “Marge Be Not Proud.” Finally, we hit up the live action cartoon that is It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and its episode “Charlie Rules the World”. Let us know if you like this experiment. We’ll be back with something more standard next month.

Adventure Time is my favorite TV show of all time. i got choked up when "Island Song" played at the beginning of this episode. BMO is my favotite character i am so fuckin here for this shit I do not play such games... with Jake :|

2024-09-17 22:55:18 +0000 UTCI've recommended some of these before: Amazing World of Gumball - S5E18 - "The Console" (parodies FF7) Teen Titans Go! - S2E39 - "Video Game References" (anthology of NES parodies) Craig of the Creek - S1E27 - "Power Punchers" (parodies fighting games) All of these are great episodes from relatively modern TV shows.

I think any of the series from the first omnibus (https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/comic/4717665/the-witcher-omnibus-vol-1-tp) are pretty good quality. Not sure if the Witcher counts since it's a book, then game, then comic but figured I'd mention!

If you want to continue in this mold, I would highly recommend three Gravity Falls episodes - Fight Fighters (S1E10 - parodies Street Fighter), Soos and the Real Girl (S2E5 - parodies FNAF and dating sims) and Dungeons, Dungeons, and More Dungeons (S2E13). I’d also recommend Big City Greens episode Level Up (S2E9 - parodies FarmVille).
