Bonfireside Chat 306: Charro's Hidden Grave

Charo’s Hidden Grave is a region that is true to its name, resting above, but out of reach from, the Cerulean Coast. But once you get up there, you learn a little bit more about this cosmology’s relationship with death, and find a dirty little secret that the Hornsent tried to hide away from themselves.

Second the geography in the DLC being a little too eccentric. It doesn’t feel created by natural forces, and the map feels naive or deceptive as an aid to navigation.

Did…did you just say the Death Rite Birds weren’t hard? Fockers have killed me more than Malenia

As usual, the drawings on the map are rop notch.

I often have questions about Charro. Usually one at a time, though, a Charo Q, if you will.

I have no strong feelings good or bad about Ancient Dragon Man aside from the laugh out loud name, but I'll never forget when he invaded and I genuinely thought he was the guy Igon was talking about. Like man this just can't be terror incarnate. There's something about the "rapturous grief" of the lamenter that always makes me think of the frenzied flame. There's nothing fiery about him, but knowing he brushed against *something*, I just wonder. But I love the Hornsent so much. The rise and fall and horrid tragic end of them, the different sects and layers— One of the best fallen civilizations of these games, I think. The Bloodborne connections are apt. Feels like exploring Yharnam all over again, and all its offshoots.

This area annoys me so much because it feels like it should have deceptively outsized narrative significance but there isn't even a little side story, near as I can tell.
