Motion Sketches (Study & thoughts)
Added 2021-08-01 13:21:52 +0000 UTCI wanted to share a couple drawings I was proud of here that I took from screenshots from moving images (video & gifs) I find that there are times where there is a certain rhythm that I want to capture when watching something. In this moment, I encourage you to take screenshots immediately and start exploring. In the first one it was a casual moment with two women walking, but there was a certain rhythm and sway I wanted to capture - unfortunately I realized it would be impossible without animation but I think it was worthwhile.
For the second, I really just came up with this scenario as I went on. I decided to challenge myself again drawing from imagination. It was really rewarding to try to figure out how to place the feet, while creating a dynamic contrapposto pose for the second character. I like how there's a bit of story to it all. Is it her turn to take out the trash? Did her roommate get wasted and trash the living room? Its up to the viewer to decide xd.
These were by no means easy, and reminded me that I needed to go back to the basics to construct my figures - using simple forms to know what the 8 main parts of the body are doing in perspective. (feet, lower leg, upper leg, pelvis, torso, upper arm, lower arm, and head. I find hands are pretty free from the rest of the body when it comes to their orientation.
