Call and Response: WOFF! Dispatch August 2025

Hello! The purpose of this post is to call for your questions and prompts for WOFF! Dispatch. Please respond by Tuesday, August 19th by leaving a comment on this post.

We're looking for two kinds of things:

  1. Suggestions for our long-form discussion prompt.

  2. Q&A about the shows, behind the scenes details, and miscellaneous (including off-the-wall and off-topic questions). Ask us about games or other media, life in general... You name it.

One caveat we've given in the past: If the question is too personal or gross, we may dance around it and not give a direct answer.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Are there any good games that you just don't like/mediocre games you like more for silly personal reasons? I had to quit playing Bioshock 2, a game I think is pretty good, because I hated the sound of the little sisters calling me "daddy" over and over. Some real grating "radiolab shorts" stuff. Conversely, I grew up in Massachusetts so Fallout 4 gets a full letter grade bump from me for having like six dungeons where I saw They Might Be Giants in concert.

Hey gang! Two (mildly related) questions as I've been listening to a few older episodes. 1) Do you have a repository of the special remixes / covers of the WOFF theme song? I just listened to the New Vegas episode (after finally getting around to the game), and the one-off old-timey version of the theme for that slaps. I know some were listener contributions, but I'd be curious to listen to all the different versions that have been made over the years. 2) I'm sure this has been answered before, but what led to the changeover from doing intro skits with WOFF? I know the Abject Suffering intros have a similar flavor, but are usually less related to the game at hand and are usually improv (at least by one of you). The planned and rehearsed comedy writing you two did was often very good and funny, and doesn't really show up elsewhere on the network. Even if they don't ever make a return, it was very fun while it was part of the format.

Howdy y’all. Question more for Gary, but Kaye may also have an answer. What are your thoughts on Chris Claremont’s run on The New Mutants? After reading the post about Jeremy’s passing (my condolences), I bought the first omnibus and have been reading through it. Would love to hear your opinions. Also, on several occasions y’all have mentioned that you have been recommended Gravity Falls as “X-Files for Kids”. Due to Gary’s recent expression of love for Adventure Time, I strongly suggest checking out Gravity Falls. The writing is as good if not better than Adventure Time and the vibe is less X-files and more 90’s Lucas Arts graphical adventure. Excellent animation as well.

Hey guys! I watched eXistenZ the other night, which is a perfect bit-of-a-stretch Adaptation Decay movie. Where do you both land on David Cronenberg? Thanks!

Andrew
