Best Quality Vacuum 71: Nacho

Let's get to know our friend Ignacio a little bit. Our friends, the Kettlemans, have gotten into a bit of a bother and Ignacio might know where they went. He was the last one to see them before they went missing, after all.

Hard disagree about the montages. I loved the use of montages throughout BCS. They aren't an efficient way to convey new information to the audience, but that isn't what they are for. The montages usually made me really *feel* what the characters were going through. I didn't need to hear the Spanish version of My Way to know Kim was stoically enduring her time in the professional dog house while scouring her contacts for any chance to redeem herself. Watching it play out for the whole length of the song made me feel like I was with her on that journey though. It made the difference between me shrugging and saying, "I guess she pulled it off." and me giving a little fist pump of triumph alongside her. Which in turn made it sting far more when she was denied her due. I wish more shows would indulge in a little stylistic filler material so I can have time to get attached to the characters. Most dramatic series are in such a rush to hit me with new plot beats that I never have an emotional journey with the characters. If all I want is the shape of the story I can read the Wikipedia article on it. Plus it gives the creators some time to just show off their cinematography chops. You can certainly go too far in either direction on the story-efficiency spectrum. I feel absolutely *starved* for shows that will luxuriate on the slower side though. For me the montages take BCS from good to great.
