Hey everyone! I’ve been playing a lot more MCP with my brother-in-law lately, so I’ve been trying to add more painted minis to the collection. Recently, I’ve been aiming for a painting level that feels comfortable for gaming—something more satisfying than standard "tabletop" quality, but without requiring a huge time investment.
A big part of that has been figuring out which parts of a mini contribute most to the final look and are worth the extra time and effort. For me, that’s often the face and weapons.
Another thing I’ve found helpful in my experiments is starting from a colorful, non-black base. It’s a simple way to add a lot of visual interest with relatively little extra effort. In this guide, for example, I tried painting a “black” suit without actually using any black paint.
Just some thoughts I’ve been having while planning some future guides. Let me know if you any thoughts about this kind of stuff.
Hope you enjoy the guide!
