Trial by Conquest — Update 16

For those of you who haven't yet listened to the latest monthly dispatch, I'm getting Trial by Conquest (and my other projects) ready for publication on various online platforms like Royalroad, Wattpad, and Inkitt.
This means a bit of re-writing for projects like Mages, Magic, and Backpacking, and quite a bit of re-writing for Trial by Conquest, to give them the best chance on these platforms.
Incidentally, I'm very happy with the new addition to my plotting tool kit that I talked about on the monthly dispatch, and I hope you can feel how much better the quality of this opening is from the last one.
Note that this isn't a complete re-write. I am grabbing and using chunks from the old version, often lifting whole paragraphs.
So, here we go!
New Scenes: Chapter One
- Re-wrote the dragon scene to include other creatures for the dragon to speak with. Ditched the whole, 'creating the world' motif as unnecessary.
- Moved Alfric's first encounter with the ratmen up to the immediate scene after, and restricted the number of PoVs. This story will be seen through only two PoVs. Alfrics, and the narrators. However, the narrator PoVs will be far more limited than before.
