THANK YOU. Literally what I was going to say. Like just take the L, admit you were wrong, and move forward from there. Not the consistently blaming other people and trying to minimize the behavior. You still did it. Own it and learn from it. This whole "deflect and victimize" strategy ain't it.

The crowd laughing makes me SO JEALOUS of the “Live” aspect! You both are awesome, keep on keeping on. This podcast has been my bread & butter for 4 months now. Very thankful to consistently find joy with every listen. 🖤

TLDR; I enjoy the podcast and will continue to listen .... but today's podcast was a poor response ... in my opinion. -- First I would like to say that I hope Dipper is safe and doing well. I personally think this backlash seem disproportionate to what was said on the podcast. With that said .. I think today's podcast dissecting the backlash will hurt more than it help for a number of reasons: Stating that people viewing the edited clip of the conversation from podcast #422 that was posted on X/Twitter led to the backlash is not a valid argument, in my opinion. Both Meatball and BenDelaCreme were reacting to the full conversation and thought it was in bad form. The section that was cut revised the number of people allegedly sent to a wrong address from "guys" to just one person. Even if you included this missing section in the social media clip, both Meatball and BenDelaCreme were both skeptical and felt like Dipper was trying to backtrack on his previous statement. Since Dipper stated that he found the Craigslist message in his email, may he should think about posting this on his social media (personal information redacted, of course) to bolster he claim that he was given the okay to ghost the person he was meeting if he wasn't interested. In the podcast #422 Dipper stated that he did what he did as a safety pre-caution -- which is valid. However, when BenDelaCreme asked: "What are you looking for to decide whether to be this cruel?" Dipper responds with: "If I'm attracted to them or not." This does not look good in any context. In today's podcast Meatball was trying to help/defend Dipper ... until Dipper turned on Meatball by saying she was being unsupportive by not picking up the phone for 3 days. At this point, Meatball dropped all pretense and gave the full behind the scenes goings-on. Meatball asking: why are you doubling down?; why are you making jokes about it?; stating that Dipper was handling the situation with a lot of white privilege, etc... (timestamp: 19:13-22:20). Dipper tries to paint himself as the aggrieved part in his retelling of the narrative, but also fully acknowledges they he fanned the flames of the controversy. Dipper can't "playing victim and the villain the same time" while throwing both the social media manager and Meatball under the bus for the words he said. If Dipper just acknowledged that he messed up and offered an apology on 3/17 or 3/18, maybe this would have all gone away. But as Meatball stated, he was making jokes about it and doubling down on what was said in the edited social clip. So, in my opinion, all responsibility falls on Dipper. I enjoy the podcast and will continue to listen .... but today's podcast was a poor response ... in my opinion.
