2025-09-01 18:49:57 +0000 UTCElder millennial here. I’m so grateful the younger generations are calling bullshit and standing up. Just because we went through it doesn’t mean it was right. I worked for 15 + years in the design industry and it was very much you’re lucky to even be here. The mantra it will all pay off in the end. BUT why shouldn’t someone be able to support themselves while doing the work. All while paying their dues, learning and doing the work. We should all be able to eat, go to the doctor and pay our rent. Being able to afford basic human needs is not asking for too much. Being turned off by those upset about the salary and all around lack of salary (no benefits) is a scarcity mindset. Just because we would have been over the fucking moon to have had a $55k job at that time in our life(and many of us even now) doesn’t mean it’s right. Trickle down doesn’t work. Demanding a living wage helps us all. Especially would help us all in creative fields where our work isn’t always looked at as worthy of pay. It’s like saying well I was hit with a belt and you’re just getting a hand doesn’t make either of them right and we don’t need to be grateful for wrong. Stay united. Stay lifted
