You seem to getting through this series so quick! As for this story, I don't want to say too much because it's only the first part. Someone may have mentioned it already, but the Sontarons are a classic Who villain. They're not on the level of the Daleks, Cybermen or the Master (and one other you haven't met yet), but they were a prominent villain through the 70s and 80s facing off against the 3rd, 4th and 6th Doctors. I enjoy the conflict between the Doctor and the militarism of Unit. What I like even more is how this is portrayed as being a bit hypocritical because he may have inspired Martha to join Unit. Martha warning Donna about life with the Doctor is also a subtly powerful moment. Good episode.

2019-07-25 14:22:47 +0000 UTCYes, indeed, the Sontarans are from Classic Who. They showed up several times, mainly in the 1970s against the 3rd and 4th Doctors, as well as Sarah Jane in fact. Talking of Sarah Jane, you really should watch The Sarah Jane Adventures, the spinoff which ran from 2007 to 2011. While it is aimed at younger kids it is really well written and a great deal of fun - I think it would be right up your alley.
